4-in-1 Combo Film Photo Scanner

I had photos and negatives that I wanted to update in one go and after looking on the Maplin website, stumbled upon this product. I also didn't want to be tied to my computer to do it and I had a couple of SD cards lying about. I was very impressed with the quality, and I didn't even need to use the manual to get up-and-running. Very happy with my purchase (but less thrilled about the next few weeks of digitising all my photos and films!)

This product does not work.I am returning it to the store moderator note: Maplin offer direct technical support for any customer stuggling with the use of their item. It is always recommended to contact the technical team to make sure the item is being used correctly (they can be contacted via email, phoneline, FAQs or the Maplin forum can also be a good resource for assistance)

I can understand negative (pardon the pun) comment as I purchased one of the earlier models and was a little dissapointed by the quality produced particularly from negatives (slides were much better). However I think you need to start by accepting that any device at this sort of price is not going to produce the kind of results that a professional lab, using equipment that costs thousands, is going to do. I had thousands of negatives and slides and used this to make a reasonable computer quality record of them but any that I wanted to produce a first class result from I sent to a lab.

Bought one of these this weekend and it is fantastic! It is easy to use and scans negatives, slides (in their mounts!) and even prints - and it does it all at lightning speed, storing the files on an SD card. I've tried other fim scanners and they've been rubbish in comparison. Highly recommended.

It does what it says it does and with good results. The device menu selections for the different media (film is default) can be a bit iffy to select but once selected (e.g. slides) the selection sticks until the device is turned off. Internal memory is adequate for a reasonable batch of scans and transferring to pc by usb is easy but requires the device to be turned off after each batch transfer to allow re-access to the main scan menu. Scan speed is quick as you would expect as it is only taking a photo.
