This unit contains a powerful mains conditioning filter which will reduce or eliminate interference coming through the mains electricity supply and help to enhance the sound and picture quality from your AV equipment. The filters are specifically designed to combat both 'asymmetrical' as well as 'symmetrical' interference, both being effectively suppressed by the introduction of high frequency capacitors and a single choke. In addition the unit also incorporates an earth line choke to stop interference through the mains earth line and uses a screened mains cable to eliminate the effects of radiated noise interference.

Works well, but I can't say that it makes a massive amout of difference to the sound from a Denon AVR-3311. Useful as a surge protector. Probably could be styled a little better so as to fit in with modern hi-fi or AV equipment.

I love this little power strip, i used it for a home cinema system and had a notable improvement in picture stability and fewer cases of interference from my other devices' power units via the 5.1 system attached to it. Would definitely recommend. The item has won a 5 star award for a reason :)

i paid for something that is supposed to work and doesnt.
described as a powerful mains conditioning unit which will reduce or eliminate mains interference, enhancing sound and picture quality. It has not made any difference at all, it has neither reduced and certainly not eliminated the interference. if it had reduced it to a satisfactory level then i may have put a better review but it really doesnt work and i am very annoyed.

Maplin says: This shouldn't negatively affect networking over the mains devices to a noticeable level (although personally we would recommend using NOM devices only when they are connected directly to the mains socket).
Q: Does this protect items plugged into the same rail, so if my amp's and pc are both plugged into this, would it condition what comes back of off the pc the same way it filters whats coming from the mains supply. Or would i have to run them seperatly. thankssam m - 11/08/2009
