Frequently Asked Questions
Q- Is the Cable usable for output from PC to TV? is The S-video connector a 4-pin mini-DIN
- Darren Hall
Answer- Yes it's suitable for this and the S-video connector is indeed a 4-pin mini DIN. Just One point to make though. Your TV must be capable of accepting a S-Video signal on the SCART plug, otherwise you will get a B&W picture. Some TVs are not wired for S-Video on the SCART. You will need to check your manual.
Q- Is s-video and s-vhs the same thing or different?
- NickT
Answer- They are the same thing
Q- I want to play a signal from my Digi box through to a epson multimedia sektop projector. The Digi box has two Scart O/P and the projector Inputs are S-Video, 9 way serial, 4mm video and sound. Will this cable let me do what I want?
- Andy L
Answer- yes but if the scart output on your digibox is not s-video enabled the picture will be B&W
Q- my laptop has 7 pins, is it still possible to connect it to my tv??
- mark
Answer- No sorry, you will need to contact your manufactuer for a 7 pin to 4 pin adaptor.
Q- Does s-video carry video and sound or do I need to connect the audio plugs somewhere ?
- PatC
Answer- SVHS is video only you will need to connect to an audio output for the sound.
Q- I have purchased this to go from TV to projector. It is only coming out in Black and white. might sound silly to ask this but is S-VHS the same as S-Video?...Would it work if i took this one back and got the s video one??,Thanks Mike
- mike
Answer- The issue may be in one of the units not fully supporting S-VHS (S-Video is the same) check with the equipment suppliers/manufacturers both have full S-VHS support.
Q- Re the above questions about only getting black & white with Scart & S-Video unless the TV scart socket is S-Video compatible - if a TV is described as Scart(RGB) is that S-Video compatible?
- Gary Williams
Answer- No. The original standard SCART spec was for composite and RGB. The revised spec adds s-video. Unless your TV specifically states s-video, then it probably won't handle it.
Q- I have a video with just one scart and want to connect it to a s-video input on my pc yet every adaptor i have only works in black and white while my lead if connected to to s-video out on my dvd box works in full colour
- Mark Newman
Answer- The problem is Generally using SCART as most SCART socket do not support the S-VHS signal fully therefore a black and white picture is produced, the equipment is the problem not the adaptors. QM52G is a s-video to composite convertor which can fix this problem.
Q- Can I use this product, i.e. Scart>S-VHS to connect my VCR to my DVD recorder to transfer VHS material onto its Hard Disc Drive?
Thanks
- NIckH
Answer- The connection should be fine for un-protected videos
Q- Can I use this to connect a TV Video combi with scart to a digital projector with S-vhs and phono sockets to project videos?
- Jenny
Answer- Yes but the composite video is reconnended (TV/combi unit may not have full S-VHS support check with manufacturer/supplier of TV)
