This is fantastic. I was unsure weather to spend all the money on what seemed to be a bog standard soldering station.
I have had no problems what so ever, new tips a pound each. The only thing I could complain about is the fact that it comes with 4 different soldering tips and maplin only sell one type. Apart from that heats up quickly about 20 seconds and you get fantastic silver joint every time.

I bought the unit to carry out low-melt soldering of white metal model railway engine parts. I was delighted with the results. Temperature control is good and the design of the iron permits precision working, with neat and sound joints. Five stars!
