Customer Reviews on this Product

This thing is massive when fully assembled, much bigger than I expected and really rather heavy. If you want to roof mount this, you'll probably have to ditch teh frame and mount on a base of your own making.
I think the supplied extension cable is too short at 5M. I have had to splice and make up my own. I agree with earlier comments regarding the build quality, the supplied screws for mounting the panels to the frame are too long and will need plenty of washers to pad out the gap.
The panel itself seems to pump out a reasonable amount of voltage - I have seen 27V from the parallel wired setup on a sunny(ish) winter day. Not managed to measure the current yet.

This seems to be quite a good product for a starter kit. But I must agree about the rusting mounting bolts rusting. I was also wondering about the SWE degratation affect on these panels.

Neal (15/11/2009)

Very good value kit which works well. Installed on a boat roof and keeps the 200Ah battery topped up.

However, considering the kit is used outside, it would not be unreasonable to expect the nuts and bolts (24) to be stainless, they have all begun to corrode within 2 months of installation, they are also about 2mm too long.

Tony (10/09/2009)

Probably the best value for money on the market at £3.33 per watt of power. Includes one of the best regulators I have seen with a selection of outputs at diffent voltages, even a USB power socket! Sturdy corrosion proof plastic frames makes it ideal for my sea side location. Comes will all the connectors you need.

ROBERT (27/07/2009)

This is a fun kit at a great price. Have mounted on Summer house, charging a deep cycle battery in the adjoining shed. Have used all my electrical tools, including grinder, jig saw etc, and lawnmower with extra inverter of course (300watt and 800watt). Also fixed friends computer, it was on for hours, re-installing Windows and OpenSuse Linux. If you're thinking of solar energy, this is a great place to start. As soon as finances allow I'm buying another one or two!

Andy (21/07/2009)

Simple and effective panels at a reasonable price. On a week long test whilst by the Thames I was easily able to charge a 70AH leisure battery whilst running a DC 12V Fridge and charging a USB device when sunny. Whilst overcast, charging of the battery continued in a trickle manner but was still producing reasonable energy levels. Haven't tested the inverter link as I have seperate inverters connected to leisure batteries. Frame is lightweight and feels flimsy and size makes portability unlikely when assembled (even with a VW Camper) but panels could easily be mounted on another frame or even a vehicle. After the number of people that stopped by my boat/camper van to ask about these, how they work and where I got them, I should be on commission! All in all a very good entry level device for caravan/boat/home use.
