This unit is weatherproof, but not fully waterproof. We would not recommend permanently mounting this product outdoors.

This is not suitable for batteries that are dead. This is to maintain charge on functioning batteries.

This would need to be kept dry.

The description says this item has 'suction cups for easy mounting'. Can these be positioned so it can be mounted behind glass - for example inside a car winscreen?

Would there be any detrimental effect if I was to cut into the lead and add a length of wire of 2 metres to extend its length. Alan Anthony

Yes the product does support that.

Can the unit be left permanently connected to the battery when connected via crocodile clips, or does it have to be disconnected before using the car like with the cig lighter?

it is recommended to remove the panel whilst the car is in use.

will this unit keep my 110Amp leisure battery in my caravan charged whilst the caravan is unattended in storage over the winter months.

The item may not give enough current for trickle charging.

For ease of use, would it be possible to disconnect the panel, but leave the crocodile clips connected while the engine is running.

This should be technically possible but we would not recommend this as there is the potential for shorting connections against the surrounding structure

Can i use this to charge inverter batteries?

As long as they are 12v then yes.

Does the cigar lighter/current outlet need to be live so that the ignition does not need to be on to allow the solarpanel to charge battery.

yes that is correct (if your socket is not live withou ignition then you would need to connect the panel directly to the battery)

Assuming it is connected via the cigar lighter where is it intended the panel should be sited - inside the car say on top of the dash catching daylight through the windscreen or would it have to be mounted outside the car say on the roof ?

The unit could be either mounted on the dahboard or the parcel shelf of the car (as some tinted windscreens can affect performance). The unit is not recommended for permanent external mounting.
