Quick delivery item sorted out the interference problems we had with the 2.4ghz version and works with Sky+HD box and remote with no problems
Once boxes are set up in right place only slight interference when someone walks past
AMANDA (18/04/2010)
After reading mixed reviews I am pleased to say what an excellent product giving a great picture. Easy to set up, was up and running with in ten minutes. Works fine with sky+HD. Delivery was very quick arrived next day.

Things you need to know from solving my problems and reading several forums:
1)Alan's comment (8/4/10). Take heed; thanks Alan. Install the correct scart on the correct box! They are wired differently. I rushed it - and got it wrong.
2) The mouse IR thingy may not be immediately obvious (I thought I would only be able to watch what the TV in my lounge was seeing). It will allow you to change your Sky HD (or whatever) from the comfort of your bed/conservatory etc using that boxes control. If your TV is in the corner, in a lot of houses it is not too big a deal to find some point along one wall to bluetack the mouse to a fire place/bookcase etc.
3) Bluetooth shouldn't (as some people have suggested) affect it as it opperates on 2.4ghz - as does Wireless networks.
Very happy I did not shell out for a second Sky HD box, plus the monthly cost.
Great product.

I was a little dubious about it working but first off i have to say, I ordered it at lunchtime on Friday and it arrived at 7am on Saturday. I plugged all the equipment in and it worked brilliantly first time.

Bought one set of theseon offer. Simple to install but the scart leads need to be installed correctly or it won't work at all. Picture is good but there is some hiss. Audio interference noticeable if a big person walks between the transmitters but otherwise no interference. Connected up to a Humax Foxsat HDR Freesat box and worked perfectly, including the infra red remote control unit. So now we can watch Freesat in the kitchen or bedroom. I'd recommend these units for second and third sets in bedrooms or kitchens. Our signal passes through a kitchen wall (studwork, plasterboard and tiles) and through a block wall. Distance about 12 metres. Transmitter and receiver come with smallish transformers that require three pin sockets. Both units are attached using the scart leads supplied so tv's need to have scart sockets. Completely unaffected by our broadband wireless

Hard to believe some of the negative comments. This product solved all the problems I had with 2.4GHz equipment. It's the miracle cure.
Luis (26/03/2010)
I expected a decent image, or even an OK image to be sent from a freeview decoder to a small LCD TV in the kitchen.
One wall, and the reception is terrible. Even in the same room, at 3 feet, 6 feet and 9 feet, with or without the areal up, with the areals pointing to each other or perpendicular, with just one of the two areals up - the image is only OK...
The 5.8GHz doesn't seem to travel through a wall (or air) any better than good old 2.4GHz - and this product - in my experience (2 hours messing around) - is just plain bad.
Still used daily, but the image is really terrible - much like the analogue TV areal this device replaced. A direct cable solution is what I need, along with a very long drill bit to puncture the wall.
sure, give it a go, but keep your box & receipt.

Contrary to other subscribers I have nothing but praise for this unit and, indeed Maplins, - ordered the unit yesterday (Tuesday) about 10:30 - arrived on my doorstep today (Wednesday) at about 09:45 - 10 minutes later - a fully functional Sky in the 2nd room - with no interference with my wireless network - many thanks - first class product and first class service
Andy (28/02/2010)
Using this to beam my Sky+ signal upstairs. Goods arrived the day after I ordered so am impressed with delivery. Sky+ remote works fine. Had to fine tune antennae and try several different positions of the units to get the best reception. As the bedroom telly is almosty exactly above the main telly downstairs, positioning the antennae was troublesome to say the least! In the end sound was OK but picture was poor but watchable - still better than forking out for another sky box and subscription though!

Ordered Friday here the following day. Read some comments which worried me about setting the units up but it was a piece of cake my only minor problem was some static noise and speech that best could be described as voice crackling but moved the receiver slightly further away from the TV and all was fine. Very good item

I bought this 5.8GHz kit to replace a 2.4GHz that was getting occasional interference from a neighbour's microwave oven. In terms of microwave interference, this unit is great, problem solved. However, the picture quality is no better than the old unit and there is a loud hissing noise in the background during quieter scenes (like you used to get on cheap cassette tape players in the '80s). Plus, the volume of sound can fade in and out randomly. The biggest downside has to be that if somebody walks in between the transmitter and receiver, it causes both picture and sound to be badly disrupted until they move out of the way. Summary:
Picture: 4/5
Sound: 2/5
Reliability: 3/5
Overall: 3/5

Easy intuitive set up, provided you remember to have the IR eye or enclosed IR mouse attached to the transmitter unit pointing at the box/TV providing the signal. I was disappointed in an earlier 5.8GHz sender from Nikkai which suffered from some unidentified local interference banding across the picture. No such problem with this model, which is also a more robust construction.
Dean (17/12/2009)
Once I realised that the cables were matched to the transmitter and receiver and got them the right way round it worked perfectly! Good picture on 2nd TV. Only comment would be that as there is no bypass for the scart lead if like me you have 1 output from the sky box going into a HDD recorder and the other into the TV you will have to go into a scart spltter first to create a 3rd output for the transmitter. Still quite impressed overall though.
Liam (16/12/2009)
Impressed with the unit, read the instructions after first attempts failed and frustration set in. In my case I did have to point the IR mouse and transmitter at the Sky box for it to work, which can make it looks little untidy if like me you wanted to keep to the side and tucked away nice an neatly in a unit next to the sky box. That said I definitely wouldn't be without it, great picture, 8.5/10 on receiving TV, sound is a little hissy, 6.5/10 but haven't really tweaked it about enough to know if that just the boxes limitations or it's me not having the ideal position for both units currently. All in all a very happy chappy

RECEIVED HQ 5.8GHz VIDSENDKIT TODAY. HAD IT UP AND WORKING WITHIN 10 MINUTES. ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED WITH THE PRODUCT, IT WORKS PERFECTLY EVEN ALTHOUGH I LIVE IN A STONE BUILT, THICK WALL BUNGALOW. MY SINCERE THANKS.
Christine (07/12/2009)
Produces a very sharp and fine picture. Read instructions carefully and without hurry. After that equipment very simple to install and set up. Excellent value for money.
garry (30/11/2009)
This one actually works through walls, excellent picture and sound best I have tried to date.
Derrick (27/11/2009)
Very limited fitting instructions with no trouble shooting section, not managed to get it working yet despite trying several times
Mark (26/11/2009)
Very fast Delivery, and a great product up and running in 15 min’s cheers Maplin
Paul (13/11/2009)
Quick and easy setup. I was a little nervous as to what the picture quality would be like but it is perfect even though it is an old house with thick solid stone walls it sends to the attic perfect and the remote works with the Thompson Sky HD box, Brilliant!!!
Matthew (09/11/2009)
Why didn't I buy one sooner? I have been so frustrated with interference from my wireless N router on my 2.4Ghz system. Even with Internet turned off, something was interfering with it.
This 5.8Ghz unit is so stable. I haven't had one picture glitch, even when I walk past the receiver.
The only negative is the remote repeater has to be placed in front of your source box to beam the IR signal at the box, just like your remote does. However the remote eye uses a small minijack and I just used the eye from my old 2.4 system which sticks over the IR sensor on my PVR.
chris (03/11/2009)
Not the prettiest of units, but the price is very competitive and the performance of this product can't be faulted in my opinion, very easy to set up and as stated in an earlier review this completely solved all of my wifi interference woes hence the five star review.. get em while they're hot!
Laura (28/10/2009)
Just want to say these work with the eurovox EX7000 HD box, the remote works perfectly too.
Marek (24/08/2009)
Bought this to replace an All-in-one 2.4ghz AV sender that stopped working after 5 years daily use.
This is definitely an improvement. Better picture quality and sound quality, no interference and the remote is far more responsive with this box.
I can also confirm that the IR remote works perfectly with our Sky HD (Thomson)box.
James (05/08/2009)
Fantastic quality and excellent reception.
At first, the picture and sound faultered when I walked in between the sender and receiver, but by changing the transmission channel (pressing one button) it was solved. An excellent way to spread video around the house! Without this I would have had to use about 35 metres of cable.
Maurice (04/08/2009)
No interference. Excellent quality. Instructions to set it up could be better. Howvever I would highly recommend this product.
David (31/07/2009)
My broadband network interferes with my video sender because they operate on the same frequency. This product works perfectly.

Really good signal and does not interfer with wireless internet or any other equipment
