Wireless Candy Bar Cam. Easy to set up but sometimes you have to reboot it to make sure it registers the changes you have made. Motion detection alert feature is misleading. It doesn't detect motion, it detects changes in the image. Therefore, as others have commented, you get bombarded with emails (100s a day), even on the least sensitive setting, as the light changes in the scene you are monitoring. However, if somebody walks in front of it, chances are it will not register. So, if you want to know every time a cloud passes in front of the sun at home, it's great. If you want it to record a burglary in progress, it's not the product for you. The remote monitoring over the internet works well. Low light sensitivity is not that good. Pretty useless after dusk.

Good picture and excellent sound on the plus side plus it is also easy to set up. However When i really needed this camera to perform when I was on holiday. I was bombarded by over 300 emails per day due to the motion activated software. I contacted the company and they assured me that the updated software would be available the next week when I was going on holiday but it wasn't. So I received another few hundred emails on holiday until the camera started sending me emails with an empty attachments ie no pictures. Also when I went to the website to see the cam online it was always disconnected!

The Candy Bar Cam was the easiest IP camera to install I have ever come across. The remote access on my mobile is a bonus.

- denis
Answer- No, you do not need a fixed ip address for viewing your camera from a remote location. If you use the software provided, the myipcam.co.uk website or the Plug n Play software for Windows & Symbian mobile phones, you do not need to know your IP address, even if it changes. Simply enter your cameras user ID and password for remote access. if you are connecting via direct connection to the cameras webserver or on Java mobile phones, you will need to know your camera locations public / ISP assigned IP address.
