Compact fluorescent lamps are a direct replacement for standard light bulbs. However, this bulb has the added feature of a special coating that produces a deep purple light and large amounts of Ultra Violet light. Answer- yes - these are at a low UV wavelength, so unless a person has a chronic UV reactive condition (ie is a vampire) there should be no problems
