Answer- The drive will be seen by the system using this kit but as the hardware installation data on the laptop drive will be drastically different form the system attempting to boot from it you are likely to find that the system will only allow it to be used as a slave drive rather than boot.

Answer- pin 1 should be indicated on the drive itself this is the opposite end on where the Power connector fits
