Customer Reviews on this Product

This product has a fatal flaw: it uses the JM20337 chip; which is associated with data corruption problems. It sometimes returns a zero-value error code which most systems treat as "no error" and continue despite some of the data being invalid.
It can also "hang" during intensive I/O requiring a USB bus reset before responding again. This is inconvenient but not as serious as the silent data corruption problem.

No Drivers for vista and the product shown was not the product delivered. moderator note: the item is supplied by two manufacturers so may have some slight cosmetic differences but both perform the same task. Plus the item does function with Vista

Just bought this item.
Using it on a Windows 7 laptop despite this not being mentioned on the packaging as a compatible OS and everything running fine.
I have kept several IDE HD's from my computer building days which I am looking to be rid of but wanted to make sure they were fully erased before disposing them.
Am happy with this purchase.

I have used this item for quite a while now and it has been very useful. When performing a new system build i used this device to back up all the existing data off the older system drive and transfer it back across to the new system drive without issue. Recommended

I bought this product to allow me to do full backups (and restore) of my laptop's HDD, which has an IDE/ATA 100 interface. The unit had was faulty and corrupted data passing through it. I completely screwed up two hard drives before I realised what was going on.
Verdict: as cheap as it is, check your unit is operating correctly prior to attempting to write to a drive etc as otherwise you may end up with useless drives
