Answer- Stranded cable is usually used in patch leads because it is far more flexible than solid cable and will last longer when moved around a lot. Solid cable is used usually where the cable is permanently installed in place and not moved.

Q- Does this cable come with ethernet ends rrady to plug into a pc or would you have to attach the conector yourself?
to get the conector already attached would i have to buy a patch cable?

Answer- This cable is supplied without connectors. To buy a readymade lead, use the search at the top of the page to look at A21AW, A22AW, etc.
Q- Is this cable suitable for small external runs above ground. eg 16 feet (still use proper money)from ground floor to loft?

Answer- This is not designed for that purpose. However, it will work fine outdoors though the outer sleeve could theoretically deteriate after prolonged exposure.

Answer- direct connection PC to PC requires a crossover cable and Ethernet ports/card on the relevant PC's cable is between order code A36AW and A43AW network cards are order code RY80 as an example

Answer- A hub, switch or router is necessary when networking more than 2 PCs. Look under Computer/Networking.
Q- the rj45s listed as accessories seem to be for multistrand. Which rj45 crimp-ons would you recommend for solid core?
