Great if you are creating an office out of a spare bedroom.
This item can be used on an ADSL Enabled Telephone Line, but, you will need to use an ADSL Filter to separate the ADSL Signal from the connection to the Extender (as it cannot carry an ADSL signal, which means it is not suitable for use as an extension for your broadband connection).

Very impressed. Recieved items Tuesday morning, fitted to Sky+ by 12 noon.Working perfectly. To test-press Services/System setup/System test/Select on Remote-shows telephone line connected. To make sure, I did test several times throughout day, all o/k.

Returned as this product did not work for me. I had a DECT wireless base station in my phone socket but wanted to move that and put a wired phone in the main socket. Unfortunately the extensions could not dial out and the line quality was reported as very poor by people who called. Caller ID showed up properly on the extensions, but the clocks in them (set by caller ID) went completely awry.

I bought this to extend a line into a small outside office about 20 metres away. The two modules connected wirelessly straight away and at first seemed perfect for the job. When I picked up the handset of my phone there was a ring tone. The problem was that incoming calls would not make the phone plugged into the remote unit ring. The red "incoming call" light on the phone would come on but the best noise it could produce was a very faint click. I then tried a fax machine with phone and the same problem, no incoming ring. Maplin exchanged the unit as we assumed it must be faulty but the replacement behaved the same. I then tried a third type of phone and it rang. So obviously the remote unit is rather fussy about the type of phone plugged into it. It works ok with a credit card machine (no need for ringing). I now have a Panasonic dect phone plugged into the remote unit and although it rings for incoming calls there is an issue with outgoing calls. I pick the handset up and get a dial tone, dial a number and then instead of dialling I get the dial tone back. Switch the power off and on again to the remote unit and it works perfectly. Maybe the dect Panasonic is interfering in some way?
In conclusion it is basically a useful piece of kit bit there are quite a few issues. It may work perfectly for you or maybe not. The bottom line is that there is nothing better than a proper wired extension, avoid wireless if you can.
