What are A23 Batteries?

The A23 is a 12-volt alkaline battery made up of eight small 1.5V cells stacked together in a compact cylindrical case. Also known as the 23A, E23A, V23GA, MN21 or LRV08, it's most commonly used to power car key fobs, garage door remotes, alarm sensors and other small remote-control devices. Despite their compact size, A23 batteries hold up well over time, offering a long shelf life and reliable performance across a wide range of operating temperatures. Their standardised size and voltage make them a convenient, long-lasting choice for keeping everyday remotes and security devices powered.

How long do A23 batteries last?

The lifespan of an A23 or A27 battery depends on the device it's powering. In low-drain devices like remote controls or key fobs, it can last from several months to a year. In higher-drain devices, the battery may deplete more quickly, typically within a few weeks to a couple of months.
