Update! I had a very helpful email from Maplin customer services which suggested that there was probably a fault with the unit I had purchased. I therefore visited a Maplin store and exchanged it without any difficulty. However I had the same problem with the replacement unit. When rebooting with the USB cable plugged as well as the Esata connection the system treated both the drives as USB drives and not as Sata drives. The speed of the drives is therefore much slower. On similar single Esats docks I have with an integrated USB card reader, the system gives priority to the esata connection and I do not know why this dock does not give a similar priority. Unfortunately in practical terms it means that the card reader and extra USB ports cannot be used at the same time as the esata connection, unless you are willing to accept the much slower USB drive speeds, or do not plug in the USB lead until the esata connection has been recognised

I installed this dock this weekend. I was particular attracted by the dual drive esata and the clone drive option was a bonus. All worked well, until I connected the USB cable in order access the card reader connections. It correctly installed the card readers, but on rebooting, the esata connection was lost. It seems that the only way to ensure the esata connection works is to disconnect the USB lead, reboot and then reconnect. I am using Windows 7 64Bit. Perhaps a firmware update is available? Because of this problem I can only give the product a 3star rate. Had it worked without problem it would have been 5!

Just got this and the offline copy mode does a perfect job of imaging a SATA Disc to another, no PC connection needed, Partition sizes remain identical so you will need to use a Partition management tool to change sizes if upgrading to a larger disc after its created your copy. Installation a breeze ( Plug and Play XP). Build quality is functional rather than outstanding but after the hassle I have had trying to use Ghost to copy a hard drive this would have saved me the 2 days I have waisted on software that made me think the new drive was at fault. The additional features are a bonus, 2 port usb hub, card reader, Sim reader, bluetooth dongle, but am so relieved the investment has worked so well for the one use I wanted I am making the effort of writing this review. Thoroughly recommended!
