Q: What are voucher codes?
A: Voucher codes (also known as secret codes, money off coupons, money off vouchers, promotional codes, promotional discount codes, e-vouchers, discount codes) are special codes that can give you discounts, money off your purchase. On www.maplin.co.uk website these codes need to be entered on the 'Basket' page when ordering for direct delivery for you to receive the specified discount. Sometimes, when placing certain orders you may receive your own unique code that will give you a voucher code for you to spend on a subsequent order at a later time.
Q: Why does my voucher code not work?
A: All Maplin voucher codes are unique and single use only, so once redeemed, the voucher code can not be used again. However, if you think your promotional voucher code should work there are a few checks you can do to see why your Maplin Electronics voucher code is not working:
  1. Has your code expired
  2. Does your order meet the qualifying terms and conditions (e.g. the value of your order excluding carriage exceed the qualifying criteia of the discount code you are trying to use)
  3. Has your voucher code been entered into the promotional voucher code box on the payment page?
  4. Has the voucher code been entered correctly, check spacing, character errors and/or spelling mistakes?
  5. Has the promotional code already been used once before in another transaction with Maplin Electronics, if so then it will not work?
  6. The voucher or coupon code advertised on an external website to the www.maplin.co.uk is invalid, Maplin Electronics has no control external advertised voucher codes and thus can not honour these voucher codes incorrectly advertised.
  7. Products marked with a † are special deals and cannot be discounted further: vouchers may not be used on orders where these items are included in the basket. Other voucher eligibility rules may apply from time to time.

Step 3: Results for Secure Shopping are found below...
Q: Is shopping on maplin.co.uk safe?
A: At Maplin Electronics, we take security very seriously and make shopping online as safe as possible. Your browser will go into secure mode as soon as you go to the checkout or login page or any other pages containing sensitive information.

You can check that you are shopping in a secure environment by looking for either a locked padlock or a key icon in the grey bar at the bottom of your screen. You can also tell whether a page is secure as 'https' will replace the 'http' at the front of the www.maplin.co.uk in your browser address window.

The Maplin Electronics web site is also scanned daily by Globalsign which uses SSL and TSL security protocols.

The Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) (and Transport Layer Security (TLS)) is the most widely deployed security protocol used today. It is essentially a protocol that provides a secure channel between two machines operating over the Internet or an internal network. In today's Internet focused world, we typically see SSL in use when a web browser needs to securely connect to a web server over the insecure Internet. Technically SSL is a transparent protocol, which requires little interaction from the end user when establishing a secure session.

SSL is a protocol, and in order to use the SSL protocol organizations need a SSL Certificate. A SSL Certificate is a small data file that digitally binds a cryptographic key to your organization's details, typically:

  • Your domain name, server name or hostname
  • Your company name and location
  • In certain cases your organizational contact details
Click here to view our SSL certificate (this will open a new window)

Maplin protects your details by encrypting your information (mixing them with code to help keep them secure). This is so your card details cannot be viewed by anyone else using the Internet. If you are using one of the more recent browser versions, our site supports 256 bit encryption and therefore keeps your details as safe as possible at all times. Your credit card or debit card details are not stored on our site once your order has been processed.

Please Note: Maplin will never ask you for personal or credit card details via pop ups.

If you have any further concerns about security, please contact us via the "need more help" section of this help page.

Step 2: Choose a section Within Wishlists...
Q: How do I use the Maplin Wishlist service and what does it do?
A: Stuck for something to buy your dad on Father's Day? or not sure what to get someone for their Birthday? maybe there's another special occasion your looking to help someone out with.

So what can I do?
Why not view and buy gifts from someone's wishlist? This way you will be purchasing items which they want, things they have added to their own lists from the products we offer online right now.

How to do I search for a list?
You can search any of your friends and family's wishlists, all you need is the list ID number to seach with using the facility above, or click the link in the email inviting you to search their list.

How does the service work?
The wishlist service is designed to be as easy as possible. You can set a wishlist or gift list for any occasion or even if you would like to just keep track of the things you would love to buy at somepoint.

It also allows you to:
  • Keep a close eye on your wishlist/giftlist online using your account.
  • You will be able to see what has been bought and also add extra items to your list if you want to.
  • You can also invite friends and family to view the list by sending them an email which will link directly to your list Choose from over 15,000 products to create your list and the great range of gifts Maplin stocks gives your friends and family plenty to choose from.

Your list(s) can be viewed online by your friends & family using the list ID or an email you have sent to them. Alternatively, you can view and amend your list(s) from within your Maplin account.
When someone purchases an item from your list(s), they are automatically updated. This then minimises the chances of receiving duplicate gifts! Prices shown on your list(s) will be the current selling price, so they may change from time to time.

Step 2: Choose a section Within Collect @ Store...
Q: Can I order online and have an item despatched to my nearest store for collection?

A: Yes, Maplin offers an online "Collect @ Store" option for returning online customers who have had a successfully despatched order previously. The "Collect @ Store" option is available to select within the "delivery addresses" panel during the checkout process.

Once the order has been processed it will be sent to your selected nearest store for collection.

Q: How will I know that the item has arrived at store?

A: Once the item has been received by the intended store you will be contacted via your chosen contact method (either email or via text message) to advise you it is available for collection.

Q: Why do I not have the collect at store option available as an option?

A: In order to utilise the Collect @ Store facility you will need to have an existing Maplin online account and have at least one previous successfully despatched order (This policy exists to protect our customers account security).

The Collect @ Store facility is currently only available to UK stores (excluding Republic of Ireland stores) and is also unavailable to customers wishing to pay via PayPal unfortunately.

Q: What is the process for ordering an item to be collected in store?

A: Simply choose the item you wish to purchase, add it to your basket and proceed to “checkout with Maplin”. When you have logged into your existing account you should be taken to the delivery page. Once you are on the delivery options click on the “Collect @ Store” button in the delivery addresses panel.

A small screen will appear which offers you the choice of contact method (email or text message), choose one and then enter your postcode before continuing. The Collect @ Store system is designed to then show you a list of your nearest stores where you can have the item delivered to.

After you have decided upon which store you wish to be your recipient then you can continue with the checkout procedure as normal. When your order is completed you will receive your order confirmation as usual.

When your item has arrived in store you will receive an alert via your chosen contact method with a reference number. It is recommended if you receive this via email that you print it out for reference when collecting the item from store (or if via SMS keep your mobile handy when collecting your order from store).

Present your order confirmation reference in store and you will be able to pick up your item.

Q: Is it possible to reserve an item to collect in store the sameday?

A: Yes, you can find out more about our reserve at store service here
