CAMERAS

An event, trip or holiday just wouldn’t be the same if you cold not relive those memories from time to time so an essential part of any travel is to take your camera, whether that be a still or video. Whilst the 35mm is still popular the current main form of any photography is digital and so to ensure you get the most of out of your camera we have  put together an essential series of points for consideration.

Digital Camera….still or video.
It’s always great to look back at the photo’s or video footage from a holiday or even just a day out. We used to have to wait for the films to arrive from processing but now it’s easy to review your photos and videos through digital format. There are an incredible range of cameras available that can capture all those special moments.

Look carefully through the range and consider the best option whether it’s just a standard dedicated digital camera, may be high resolution or increased zoom facility, or one that will record video too. Video cameras capturing live action are getting better all the time with versions that record in high definition or give added features such as a separate sports cam, MP3 player or voice recorder to name but a few.

Memory
You can store many photos on today’s modern digital cameras but the best way to ensure you don’t run out of memory is to take extra memory cards, whether this be SD, MMC, xD or compact flash. Video is very storage hungry so ensuring the capacity of your cards is as high as it can be is essential. Card memory can range at the lower end from 128MB up to a massive 8GB.

Power
Another necessity with photography is to ensure that you always have sufficient batteries or an external power source. Camera batteries may be slightly different from the usual AA or AAA versions, although these are also used. Always check the correct battery for your camera and think whether you want single use (Alkaline) or a rechargeable version. You don’t want to run out of the power in the middle of an important photo or video and miss that all important moment. Make sure you have spares readily available or the means to charge your camera.

Accessories
We do invest a great deal on cameras but may not always consider accessories to enhance and protect them, not to mention making photography easier. There are a huge range of accessories available, a few essential suggestions are listed below.

Cases
Cameras are not cheap and you need to make sure they are fully protected. Cases come in many different designs from the pocket size to the larger sizes that can handle a camera and all your accessories.

Tripod
Getting that shot right and having a steady hand is not all that easy, so a third hand in the form of a tripod can be invaluable. Modern tripods are compact, lightweight and can either be suction, clamp , mini, standard or single monopod.

Photo Frame
Viewing your photos and video couldn’t be easier nowadays with the range of digital photo frames available. You can simply insert a memory card with your precious memories and you can either display a single image or alternate through a whole series, plus view video too.
