Receive digital satellite programmes without depending on a fixed mounted satellite aerial. The mobile aerial allows you to receive signals at different places such as on a camp site, beach or at home. The dish can be installed in the plastic case or can be mounted, e.g. on a car roof, table plate or a mast using the mounting components. You can also connect the receiver to a fixed installed satellite aerial. The most common broadcasting stations are pre-programmed to the ASTRA, Hotbird, Sirius, Hispasat and Hellasat satellites:
You can receive programmes broadcast through these satellites as soon as you have connected the receiver and mounted and adjusted the antenna. There is a possibility of completing and/or modifying the existing pre-programming as the digitally emitted programmes are updated. Operate almost all receiver functions using the remote control or use the user interface on the TV-monitor.
The satellite dish must point accurately at the receiving satellite and have clear line-of-sight, no trees or buildings in the way. As this dish is quite small, it needs to point more precisely than larger dishes, be sure to align with a signal strength meter or satellite bleeper.

I just purchased one of these kits and i'd advise anyone who caravans to buy one from Maplin. We went to Cornwall and got absolutely perfect reception once we tuned it in (within minutes) with the built in signal finder. Brilliant tool

I have just set this up for the first time on a caravan holiday and within a few minutes I had received over 200 channels with perfect picture and sound. I set it up in its suitcase on the ground and although the satellite finder that comes with it looks a bit naff, it works brilliantly because it only took a few seconds to lock on to the satellite. The increased audio signal from the receiver/TV lets you know when you have located the satellite and some fine tuning of the dish elevation by adjusting the suitcase lid is needed to increase the signal strength as much as possible. The lid at this point appeared to be at 90 degrees to the ground and not angled backwards as I had expected. The only disappointment is that you cannot receive text and extended EPG (14 day program guide). I actually sent the receiver back as I thought there was a fault with it and these are the engineers comments:
"The receiver is working OK. A normal receiver will allow the viewing of the channels on freesat but a freesat receiver is required to use the interactive services, text and the extended EPG part of those services".
Freesat receivers are expensive in comparison to the complete kit price so all things considered I am happy with my purchase especially as terrestrial TV was useless on the majority of our caravan holidays even though I had a decent aerial system.
