Customer Reviews on this Product
Martin (16/01/2010)

Firstly to say that despite what it says on the web page, there is no provision for 9 volt applications, but purely 3, 6 & 12V. The 3 volt output on my regulator doesn't work for some reason & I will have to strip it down to find out why.

The output from the panel is impressive, even on cloudy days, purely mounted vertically in the window, and at present I'm using it, in conjunction with 12V batteries out of fire/security system at work, which were changed for new as three years old, but still work well (Insurance cover stipulates their replacement at this age) to recharge mobile phones, a shaver when the 3v supply works, a radio, and LED lighting in the main bedroom, plus a LED inspection light.

All experimental stuff, towards reducing the electricity bill, and the 'good lady' thinks i'm a bit 'dotty' but can at least appreciate what I'm doing, having seen the benefits of rain harvesting at home. Thank you Maplin for helping in this respect.

Used this with a 40ah portable power pack in Northern Spain. It produced enough power to keep all the camping lamps and gadgets going

Simon (27/07/2009)

The specifications would suggest that this unit can drive 1.1 Amperes, but in practice this is not the case. In full British sunshine, a maximum of 800 milliAmperes can be driven through a flat battery. On the other hand, 800mA. are still driven through a fairly highly charged battery (in bright sunlight). Also, when set up semi-permanently outdoors, this unit will survive full British rainfall - but keep a series diode with the battery, just in case the panels develop an internal short-circuit!
