Very pleased with the ide connector,simple and quick to connect and use. Copying files from my old hard drive much easier and quicker than connecting two computers together. Also works well with my old DVD drive for loading and copying to new machine.

Answer- Assuming the drive from the old PC is not damaged or password protected/encrypted then yes it should be fine for said purpose.

Q- Just to let you know that even though it doesn't say it on the box, this works with Windows 7. Don't use the driver CD, just let Win 7 install it.
