OEM 2.5 Inch SATA Hard Drive

These are 5400 spin speed drives, and not the 7200 I was hoping for. I bought the 500Gb HD anyway to upgrade my MacBook Pro. Pleased to have so much more capacity, but I will be taking it back as it is excessively noisy. The constant, and very audible whirring sound of the the disc platters spinning is a total distraction when concentrating on other tasks and quickly becomes a great irritation.

I bought this to replace the smaller drive in my Advent 4211 netbook. I am by no means knowledgeable about computers and generally pretty ham-fisted but following some instructions I did it and it installed with no problem at all. It runs efficiently and quietly. Pretty cheap and very well packed - survived a very bumpy journey home in my bicycle bag. Recommended.

Easily installed although no instructions provided. Relevant screws to hold into the bay would have been useful. The disk was immediately recognised by the laptiop but had to be initialised and formatted.

Marvellous and straightforward. I used my SATA drive in my Technomate 8000HD satellite receiver. The play and record buttons are already marked on the handset. The instructions are a little thin on the ground for Technomate and not available online for this model. The instructions in the HDD box were in incredibly small print and not very useful at all. For anyone considering this drive in a Satellite receiver, first attach it in place of your CD drive in your PC and using the Technomate supplied utility, partition the drive with the FAT32 file system. Then insert in the receiver slot, (ignore the need for the power plug), just push it in the slot firmly, it might be an idea to use a thin ribbon around the drive in case it needs to be retrieved at any time, which is not easy. You should now be able to hear the drive whine when it is switched on. Enter the HDD/USB menu and format the drive. Now it is ready to use and you have a fully functioning PVR, good for Uk, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Czech, Hungarian, Russian, Polish and many other satellite channels both free and subscription.
