Rated 3 out of 5 by from Where's the handle? Like others have said it does what it says on the tin and there is every attachment you could ever want. However when I got the tool home and removed the shrink wrap from the sealed box I discovered the handle was missing. It's not an essential part of the tool but still it would have been nice if everything I paid for was in the box. I haven't brought it back because there are only about 3 Maplin stores where I live in Ireland and none of them are close by where I live so it would be a special journey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An awesome product. So many accessories, great for hobby and model work. Cuts everything I need it to very easily and sands. The pen tool is most useful for intricate hobby decal. It is very easy to use and very efficient - and is at a great price! Definitely recommend it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from In hand tool feels ok. Works without glitches and does what it promises. On the other hand, power meter shows only 70w power consumption. Instead of 170w advertised.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mini Grinder Gripes My unit, now well out of warranty, was only used occasionally so it was with great disappointment that, subsequently, it failed to switch on. I've tested the switch and that is working ok so there must be a failure in the circuit board which I can't fix. Also, it is not possible to service the unit in any way. Brushes are not available though Dremel items might fit. I've not tried them. Some have asked if you can use Dremel accessories with it. Not the Dremel flexible shaft, (and vice-versa) but most other consumable accessories fit it ok. To all intents and purposes it has a very similar build to the Dremel mini grinder. I also have one of those so have been able to compare the two. An advantage is that it will operate from 8000 rpm upwards which is slower than some other offerings. The Dremel operates from 5000 rpm. I'd have to say that, my faults experience aside, this Maplin tool (and kit) represents good value. Worth a go at just under £30 so I give it four stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful tool set I bought one of these sets two years ago and have found it very useful for lots of fairly delicate work. Unfortunately I needed to use the drill and the flexible drive to completely grind away a three inch long, half-inch diameter, toughened-steel bolt. This, I'm afraid, involved something approaching an eight hour, non-stop task which caused both the flexible drive and the speed control to fail. The bolt was successfully destroyed! But I was happy to purchase a second set.

Can you use dremel bits for this?

Asked by: Tyl2020
This has a collet size of between 1.5mm - 3.2mm. If the bit fits within this range they should be compatible with this device.
