Rated 5 out of 5 by from If my review title smacks of surprise it's because I've tried various HDMI 'splitters'... both active (you might get a display on one screen but definitely not both) and passive (awful picture quality - if it works at all), from various sources (in-store and online) and at varying price ranges and this is the ONLY one I've found that actually works as intended. All of my devices (BD player, TiVo, Apple TV, PS3, a laptop and a desktop) go to a Sony STR-DE1040 and from there splits one HDMI output to two HP x2301 monitors. With this splitter, I finally get TWO full HD pictures with no visible noise! It takes a few seconds to send the signal (often to one screen and then the other) but it always sends it. Recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have a V+ HD box in my lounge. I wanted a simultaneous feed to the local HD TV and another HD TV in the bedroom, with a cable run length of 15m. Some other products hadn't worked. To my surprise this unit worked straight out the box, didn't even need the instructions - i now have that simultaneous feed to the local TV and also the TV in the bedroom. Very satisfied

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HDMI Splitter that works Simple product that works great. Have split a sky HD to a plasma TV and cinema projector via 10m cables, works perfectly. Relies on detecting the bi-directional power sources, so if using an audio visual switching device for multiple inputs/output devices (Blue Ray, Sky, Video, PS Consoles etc) make sure it is switched to the correct source to allow device to detect it. Worth the money and will buy another to split other sky box in house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pricey, but does the job. Good even with 10m HDMI cable. Configured Sky to two HD TV's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought this on the strength of the other reviews, and the fact that similar other products have had poor reviews. This splitter works seemlessly without any issues between my Samsung and Sony televisions. The picture quality is far superior than using scart from my Sky box. Both televisions seem to work fine at the same time without any issues. I recommend this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good product once working, but my first purchase had difficulty sensing and switching on each output stream. The product has no buttons and relies on automatically sensing an input signal to work. I got a replacement which so far works fine with 5m HDMI cables to two HD flat screen sets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product, but does need an extra HDMI lead which they do not tell you about moderator note: Maplin do actually address the lead requirement and even suggest a potential item for it within the product FAQs

Would I be able to use this along side running my elgato software on my computer as one HDMI port is already taken by a monitor

Asked by: Enzo SC
Sorry but I don't understand how you are trying to utilise the item. It's a HDMI splitter, it takes the output of a HDMI device and splits it into 2 identical copies of that signal, it doesn't connect to your computer and it doesn't interact with any software.

I want to use this to split my PC output to PC monitor and my TV, so I can show movies stored on PC on my TV, will this do the job? Also will my PC power it or will I need to purchase a separate power source?

Asked by: JohnKP

Firstly, does the box require it's own power source? Secondly, if I we're to plug one end into a apple TV box and the other ends into one monitor and one project would I be able to get the same ?

Asked by: Woody999
Yes, this unit requires its own power source to operate. You should get the same image on both the monitor and the projector as this will duplicate the output signal to two visual devices.
