Overall good product
I have found this to be a good product for using spare/re salvaged drives.
It does however crash explorer when reading large files on windows 8.1
Saying that it does not say it supports 8.1 so I can't really complain.
Overall 7/10 as I'm not sure it's future proof.
Very useful and easy to use.
Saved my bacon and my Data when my machine was hit by Malware that blocked my Windows boot. Removed drive and mounted it via this device on a legacy machine, rescued my partner's book and enabled me to clean and reformat the drive. Had our desktop machine back up and running in a couple of hours. Now I use it to back up and have a duplicate hard drive ready on the shelf just in case it happens again. Solid, simple to use.
Unable to get it working with Mac OSX
I have the C1 sat in my office drawer for over 2 years. It doesn't work with Mac OSX Does not mount any drives or even read from flash or SD card.
A great device. I used it to connect my iMac hdd to a PC after the Mac died. Enabled me to retrieve the data I needed for my work. A breeze to use and worked straight out of the box.
Brought this product from the stockport store, its so easy to use, plug it in and its works... simple, and easy set up - plug and play - is really worth the money.. does desktop and laptop hard drives, would deffo recommend to friends
Very nice product, worth to buy... easily operable
Can't find the quick release button, not sure there is one. The software that comes with it is from China. It seems to glitch a bit and needs to be started twice to run. The manual although written in English is definitely not written by a native speaker and takes a bit of interpretation. So far I've not been able to just plug in and access my hard drive. The manual recommends formatting the drive and creating a partition first. I did this with an empty drive and it works fine but not so useful for accessing already stored info. So far it's working but I keep expecting something to not be quite right and I'm unsure if the auto back up is functioning properly as it is forever finding files it didn't 10 mins previously.
Works brilliantly on Ubuntu. Shoved it in a spare USB slot and the drive automounts nicely. I was a bit worried that it wouldn't play nice with Linux when it came with a driver disk, but I think that's probably just for the 'Backup' button which I have no use for.
An excellent piece of kit. Well made and robust. Handy for backups and transfer of large amounts of data.
Cheap, but does exactly what it says on the box...
