3.5mm Metal Stereo Plug

A 3.5mm stereo jack plug with a metal barrel with a coiled spring cable relief sleeve.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3.5mm Metal Stereo Plug Used to replace the plug on a cheap pair of Philips earbuds. Easy to solder to, I used some soldering paste and 63/37 lead-tin solder. Only thing I would complain about is the weight, it's a little heavy compared to the original one, and a little large too. Performance is as expected, which is to say, perfect.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well made but had problems with soldering. I bought two of these to replacee damaged plugs on two sets of speakers. They are These jack plugs are solidly made as they appear in the photo. I took great care and time at soldering these plugs but when I tried them one channel wasn't working. The problem being that when you finally slide the cover back on, one of the channels would touch the 'ground.' I then put some tape around both channel connections and the plugs now work ok. Maybe it's just my soldering at fault! Dissaponting as they are otherwise well made and look nice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Robust construction I bought this to create a pair of DIY headphones and to say the least I am impressed, the connector faired well will soldering and could maintain strong connections with the wires. However it didn't take much to "burn out" the connector while soldering resulting in the component not working yet I am sure this is an issue on most jacks to solder to. (Also may be because I am a novice at soldering) Overall a good price and a good quality, i would definately reccomend to someone either replacing an audio jack or buying to create a pair of speakers/headphones.

hi, I bought two mono plugs, I asked a chap if these would suit the repair of headphones, I have used this type before, these two I got had only connections to solder the wires to? I thought it was a mistake, opened the other and that was the same?

Asked by: jonno
These items do require a solder to make the connections.

hi, when I connect the right headphone to the left lug I get sound, also when I connect right headphone to right lug I get sound, but the left headphone does not work. is this a faulty connector?

Asked by: steve747
The plug is working correctly, remove insulation from all wires when testing, even the copper coloured wire will be insulated, if still not working its a fault on the speaker.
