Rated 5 out of 5 by from I live on the outskirts of Nottm. Overall very impressed ! Built in arial only works when outside but external arial much better if positioned near a window. Able to receive about 40 tv channels with about 20 radio stations. Record function is brilliant as you can replay tv when no signal (ie on plane etc). Well built (feels good) - touch screen. However took to my mother inlaws (5 miles away) and no signal. All in all I would give it 9/10 only losing a point for signal strength bit this will depend on how good your signal is. Definately worth the money - everything in the box you'll need except a SD card. Buy one !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TV arrived within 2 days just using standard delivery. I'm absolutely delighted with the tv. I cannot believe that with its tiny telescopic aerial it can have such a clear picture and pick up all the freeview channels. My home town of Bromsgrove has just become fully digital however, I really didn't expect such a little tv to have such a great quality picture.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The recording scheduler has 4 time slots. It will only work with one time slot. If you input more the device fails to record the second one (after numerous attempts). Otherwise a great TV and good for recording single events. Will there be a upgrade to fix or is my device faulty? moderator note: it is recommended that if any issues are experienced with the use of the unit, our technical team should be contacted. They can be contacted via either the forums, the FAQ system, via email or telephone (further contact details can be found via the help section of the site)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sadly, I am not at all happy with this item, on its own Aerial it refuses to tune any stations, and on my main aerial (rooftop) it only tuned 13 TV & 2 Radio. (My Freeview box receives 103 Channels) The touch Screen is very 'Iffy' and some menus can only be closed by switching it off. After being fully charged the battery is more than half gone after only ten minutes. ! and every now and then it swiches itself off arbitrarily. Also something inside is moving about loose

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding reception. Excellent picture. At last - a small TV which doesn't mean carrying a five foot aerial around with you. I've read the previous reviews and with the exception of the "reboot" when there's no signal niggle it's an amazing little tv. What has made it amazing is how it drags in a signal. Let me explain - I took it round to my Dad's and everyone living round there has six foot extention masts to get a poor tv signal that still manages to drop and give that digital tv squark. TV reception was chronic before the digital switch over and was no better after. I switch it on the kitchen and it drags in all channels. Dad looks at the tv and says "what's it connected to?" It took several minutes before I convinced him that it wasn't connected to anything at all. The 4 inch antenna on the tv was enough to bring in a solid signal. Dad tried it when we were out in the car - the signal didn't drop!! Brother in law works with TV signals and does work for SKY and he has the same problem with reception at home. He saw the perfect picture and was scratching his head as to how the 4 inch antenna in a dining room did what a six foot aerial (with a box of tricks) on a roof couldn't do. The picture is very clear and sound is very adequate. I know some people have complained about poor reception but I can only give it max stars. The software version on the one I've just bought is September 2011 and this is updated by using the sd card. I notice that other reviews are dated before that software release and those reviewers need to update. Maplin - there needs to be a link so that previous reviewers can update the software on their TV's which may mean that the poor reviews are down to the out of date software. If Maplins are going to sell any more portable TVs then they should base them on the hardware contained in this model. In fact all TVs should be based on this model and it would put the aerial industry out of business. Just stop it rebooting when it can't find a signal - that does irritate a little.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nowhere near as good as the 3.5" button-press nikkai I had before (this is a 4.3" Nikkai), except in that the reception is good, much much better than for the medion TV that maplin also sells. This new model is in a shiny black plastic with holes in the case for buttons and slots and aeriels and has nowhere near the design elegance and quality of the silver grey old model. The aerial does not rotate, for example, and its housing is open and sharp edged. The old model' housing was also open but not sharp-edged and just a shallow groove, whereas this is a deep irregular cut in the plastic. The new aerial does not turn, only raise and extend. Most disappointing is the replacement for the lovely freeview selection on the old model. Where the old model allowed one to pan through channels showing one the small picture from each _without_ changing away from the selected channel, on teh new model there's no way to look without changing! The result is that I can never find the old channel again. And the touch screen is horribly mprecise. It's a real battle to select any channel at all. I give up on looking for a channel that I want as it's impossible to find. The menu either pans down a page or five when I don't want it to, or won't let me choose the channel down one without jumping it or flicking back again. Just nightmarish. And without separate voume control one has to go through menus just to change the volume from moment to moment separately after having found a channel (stations have different volumes). Wait for a fixed interface in some newer version. And did I mention that when watching a weak signal the TV reboots spontaneously? Sometimes it reboots (slowly) into the same channel, sometimes not. Always one has to go and select "tv" first - it doesn't ever reestablish the tv/radio/card watch state one was in before, instead opting for a "home" menu. In short, apparently still a first try at a touchscreen interface that needs a lot of work before humans can use it. The actual TV electronics seems OK (still .. much better than competitors), but boy can they use some decent interface programmers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb little TV! I already had the previous model and loved that too but this had true 16:9 and recording facility so I had to get it.Stunning, bright, clear images, all graphics pin sharp no matter how small.Built in Aerial works great where I live in the South West.We have full power digital,so that may make a difference. One of my best buys from Maplin!
