Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've had mine for 3yrs now, in use almost every day for micro-electronics soldering (mostly surface mount components) This is a very decent iron for the price. This isn't a top-spec pro iron, but they are considerably more expensive than this. For your money, this is a really good bit of kit. Infinitely better than the cheapo sub-Ј20 rubbish irons you can get anywhere. Some people have complained that he elements don't last too long. I think it's down to temperature. This iron will go VERY hot if you want to. If you set it to 450deg and leave it, of course it will burn out before long. But most solders melt and flow quite nicely with small components at 220deg. Use it for electronics, and it an element will last 1yr +.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I've just received this soldering iron and it seems to be good for the work it's intended for. The handbook is ok for telling you how to use the iron, but it does not tell you how to change the iron rest to the other side or how to change tips. Yes it's simple if you know already, what about the people who have never owned one? The handbook also says "please wipe the tip on the cleaning sponge". Should one be included?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Soldering station excellent. Spare fine bits (all the same type) are available N27FZ in packs of 5. However, the other two bits with the station are not available as spares

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Although not a prolific solderer in my spare time, I use quality soldering irons at work and so appreciate a decent and controllable sustained heat from a soldering iron. I bought this one as my brand of choice, Weller, is a bit expensive outside of a professional/serious hobbyist environment, but still wanted the functions a good solder station provides. First impressions are that the 'feel' of the case and iron lead connecting plug are a bit cheap when compared to a Weller, however they work perfectly well, time will tell on durability. It is considerably cheaper though so can't complain too much. Whilst I can't comment on prolonged use at this stage I can say it works very well at first use and compares admirably against the Weller in performance. I noted from other reviews about the sponge not being included, perhaps they have taken note as mine did come with a sponge, as well as the three spare tips as mentioned. All in all a decent hobby iron and well worth the money for occasional home use

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought the unit to carry out low-melt soldering of white metal model railway engine parts. I was delighted with the results. Temperature control is good and the design of the iron permits precision working, with neat and sound joints. Five stars!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mine was replaced shortly after purchase as it developed a fault, and the replacement has lasted two years before breaking down. While it worked it was OK but I'd have liked a longer lifespan from it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A well made and excellent performing soldering iron that reaches temperature very quickly. Nice that the iron is seperate so can be replaced seperately if needed. Comes with three spare nibs, each slightly different sizes. Only thing I was a little disappointed with is that it didn't come with a wet sponge but this is trivial.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm really pleased with this solder station. My workshop is quite cold and the iron warms very quickly, maintains its temperature even on stubborn pieces of work and the cable is nice and flexible allowing full control (unlike some other irons I have which seem to have a mind of their own).
