You can't rely on the British weather! Receive digital satellite programmes without depending on a fixed mounted satellite aerial. The mobile aerial allows you to receive signals at different places such as on a camping site. You can also connect the receiver to a fixed installed satellite aerial. The most common broadcasting stations are pre-programmed to the ASTRA, Hotbird, Sirius, Hispasat and Hellasat satellites.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic versatile kit "Down side" it does not come with a sat beeper or finder only a small satalite map in the instruction booklet and the recievers menus can be a little confusing and hard to read on a small screen. You will also need a stanley knife to bearback and install the plugs on the cable ends between the dish and reciever but its is quite easy with the instructions "Up side" the image on TV channels is verry good aswell as audio on radio channels and the dish assembles with ease and it all packs away in the case for easy storage and is quite light weight. All in all a BIG THUMBS UP a great addition for those quiet nights away camping!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought one of these kits for use in my Campervan. When purchased, the fixing arm for the Satellite dish was damaged, but my local Maplin store changed the part, no problem. Once set up, it works very well, I am very pleased with it. My advice, as a complete novice with Satellite TV, is, ignore all of the technical explantions about Azimuths, Elevations, and LNB skew. Turn to the back of the English language guide supplied with the Receiver, there you will find an idiots guide to aligning the dish. Basically, point it due south, then move it to the left in 3 mm steps until you get maximum signal. DO NOT stand infront of the dish during the adjustments. Then, adjust the elevation, etc. Doing it this way took 5 minutes, reading all the technical stuff took 3 hours and gave me a headache.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A difficult installation. Instructions nearlly impossible to follow (images blurred) Certainly not to Maplin's usual standard. Be prepared for a family fallout during attempting installation. However once the item is working it performs very well. moderator note: Maplin offer full instructions for the item along with further in depth beginners guides which are downloadable from within this product page. As with all satellite systems, the alignment isn't always easy and a satellite finder (such as our Order Code of BZ68) is recommended for a simpler setup. Further support can also be obtained from our forum or by emailing technical@maplin.co.uk

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought this two years ago for caravanning for those 'out of TV signal' spots. My Star buy as regards camping accessories and we use it even when there is a digital TV signal available. Better choice of programmes. A must have extra to this is a Sat-finder and the one we bought at the same time from Maplin's, the A96FG, is so simple to use and saves a lot of hassle. Great bits of kit and very reliable. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a great system this is what we use it in our motor home (great for those rainy days and nights in) and when at home I connect the receiver to my sky dish and use it in the bedroom. It was easy to setup and if you do some research on the net first about dish alignment it’s a doddle. I now have recommended it to lots of friends and they are all really happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from To be honest, read the reviews and thought aye right! But only cheap so give it a go. Spent 4 hours trying to get it to work at home before going away in the caravan, no joy at all! Told by a colleague at work that millimetres of direction of dish are involved, so tried again. 10 minutes after setting up, perfect picture! In Dunkeld Perthshire, surrounded by mountains and underneath over-head power lines... if it works here, it will work anywhere. What a cool product, wish i'd bought one years ago!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from We bought this satellite system so that we could get tele in our caravan. Unfortuntely, the system was completely useless to us, and we just could not get a signal, even though we had a satellite finder as well, which was a waste of time and money. We spent 4 hours trying to get a signal, holding it in every direction possible, but nothing. We ended up buying a freeview system instead, and this worked perfectly straight away. Buy with caution, and be prepared for a lot of messing around. Moderator Note: Reception for satellite systems requires careful setup and involves a fairly steep learning curve for those who are new to the technology. Maplin offer further in depth beginners guides which are downloadable from within this product page. As with all satellite systems, the alignment isn't always easy and a satellite finder (such as our Order Code of BZ68) is recommended for a simpler setup. Rated 1 out of 5 by from 1) Packaging and design poor, Case is too tight, and getting everything back in virtually impossible. You'd be more likely to just stick it in a big carrier bag than bother pack up. Coaxial isn't made up, so this is a pain to get right if you don't do it very often. All the mounts either too tight or too much play, really annoying when you're trying to get precise angles. Bad product design. 2) Had to take back first set after wasting loads of time because faulty remote control. 3) Instructions very poorly presented (replacement set only came in German) Even after purchasing signal finder and getting precise angles with compass, Astra 2 satellite etc, and scouring forum advice, still no signal registering (even though really strong on signal finder). Can't fault customer service, they were very helpful. Just really annoyed at 5 plus hours wasted on this product, both at home and out camping.

Do the suitcase systems work in France.? If I pay for sky at home is there a way of watching it using your suitcase system in south of France?

Asked by: Francofile
The system will work in France, however it will depend on the area you are in as to which satellite signals you will receive. If you are in the South of France, it is unlikely that you will receive the Astra signals which broadcast UK Freesat. This unit is for free-to-air satellite only, Sky would not be compatible with this unit, and in the required location the signal would also cause an issue as the same Astra satellite used for Freesat is used for Sky broadcasts.
