Decent Office PC Case
Having looked around for a decent but cheapish case to build a dozen office PCs I came across this. As office PC cases go it does the job. The cases were stable and nicely finished. I admit the PSU is lightweight so only time will tell but there were enough connectors for a basic office machine (the odd connector pin was loose but was easily fixed by pushing back in). With everything installed it showed itself to be a quiet case. Overall the case is better than quite a few budget cases I have investigated to date. This is a basic case so don't expect too much, I wouldn't use it for a home build but for the office it seems adequate.
Used this for my first gaming pc which I had to do on a budget. PSU is fine although you need to buy some adapters if you want more hard drives, graphics cards etc. Also the front panels which are removable to put in DVD drives and card readers are really hard to put back in after you've taken them out. I do like the case though
Just the job!
Bought this to re-house the innards of my Dell Inspiron 530s after the power supply failed. Could use more than two SATA power connector, but aside from that, it's a great product at a good price. Everything connects easily and works. Dell front panel card reader clips into the front. The rest of the motherboard connectors are accessible at the back. Looks good too.
CIT CASE & PSU
would agree with other reviewers that this a budget item. case rivets were loose and panels flimsy and would not recommended psu. psu is light with an inadequate fan. one psu failed, other psu , fan vibrates randomly.
this is an excellent case for anyone building a compact gaming rig or office machine because it has great ventilation because there is room for a 120mm fan in the front and side panel. it also comes with a 500 watt psu that is ok quality and would be fine for a low power system (300 watts or so) but would avoid using for gaming and use a good psu brand like: silverstone enermax thermaltake OCZ antec or corsair The included 80mm fan is not great but helps cool the cpu when mounted in the space on the side panel. overall it is a great little case for the money if a tiny bit flimsy but seems to become more solid when everything is mounted inside.
Good value for money. My only criticism is that the cable between the two SATA power headers is a bit short, making it a bit tricky installing a hard drive if there is a DVD drive in the top slot.
This case was very good, as it came with a 500W battery which is more than enough for me and it came with wires, but it needs a few more wires if you are using a high end graphics card
You can tell that the product is budget, but when the case is assembled its all very sturdy and good looking. However the problem is the included PSU; the first one would not work full stop, thankfully Maplin were very helpful in replacing the faulty product. But the replacement (which is the same model as the original) is now playing up as my motherboard keeps saying that the system detected a surge and was halted to protect components. I love the case, but I'm not a big fan of CiT power supplies now.
Bought this case to transplant some old components into to build a windows 98 retro rig to play old/classic games on so wasn't intending on spending a whole lot of money as I already have a high end PC for my current gaming & media use. Out of the box you could tell that this case and PSU are budget items, the metal the case is made out of is very thin and the case itself seems quite wobbly but it does stiffen up a little once you start screwing in the mobo and drives. It does however accomodate my mobo, hard drive, floppy and cd drive adequately (althought the case's original mobo plug array blanking pannel took some effort getting out and left razor sharp burrs which I cut my finger on so watch out for that!). A bit of a gripe also was that there isn't very many connectors with the included PSU as there is only just enough for the basics - if you're looking to power a graphics card as well you'll need a 4 pin molex to 4 or 6 pin gfx card plug to power it as there isn't one provided! All in all, for getting my cheap old rig up and running it was worth it, although I have no idea how long the PSU is going to last, it seems quite light for a 500w PSU and doesn't inspire a whole lot of confidence but again, for the price and the fact that this machine will only recieve occasional use I guess I can let it slide. If you are looking for a product that will last & to accomodate a decent rig for current media & gaming use however, I would definitely avoid this and go for a better case and PSU. Also be careful tightening up screws in the chassis and panels as the 'metal' this case is made out of has the same tensile properties as water. For a budget/infrequent use setup however or if you need something to tide you over in a pinch then it will do.
