Control your powerline with this devolo app

Is this powerline kit right for me?
The Devolo dLAN 1200+ Wi-Fi kit contains everything that you will need in the box. This powerline kit is simple to use, its plug and play feature means that you can quickly plug in the powerline adapters, connecting one to your router and the other to your networked device and setup is complete. The kit will give you a transfer speed of up to 1200Mbps between the plugs. The two network ports will allow you to connect two networked devices directly to the powerline socket at the same time, allowing you to connect two devices, such as your laptop, desktop pc, games console, smart TV, networked hard drive or even your smart fridge directly to your internet connection at the same time without swapping cables. The powerline kit is plug and play to make setup quick and simple. The powerline plugs of this kit are designed to allow you to plug directly into a wall socket and to also plug a device into the back, meaning you do not lose a mains plug socket while using this kit.

How does the built-in Wi-Fi work?
This powerline socket also has a built-in wireless output that will allow you to connect portable devices such as mobile phones, tablets and laptops to your network without needing to use a cable. This wireless powerline plug also allows you to extend your wireless network around your house, giving you a strong Wi-Fi speed throughout and eliminating wireless black spots. The socket is set-up with its own Wi-Fi password which is printed on the reverse side of the plug and will allow you to quickly and easily log onto your network and surf the internet.

How could I use this powerline kit?
The powerline kit is designed for one plug to connect directly to your network router while the other is connected to a networked device. Compatible network devices include laptops, PCs, gaming consoles, smart TVs, network hard drives, media players and CCTV kits. It allows that device to connect directly to the internet without using long network cables.

How does powerline work?
Powerline technology transfers data using the electrical wiring of the household. This allows for a single powerline plug to be connected directly to a router and plugged into a mains socket. This plug will then communicate to all of the other plugs connected to the same electricity supply. This kit comes with a single powerline plug that connects to a router and another plug that will connect to your networked device and allow it to communicate to your router over the mains. The powerline adapters will communicate with each other when connected directly to mains sockets that are on the same fuse board. Additional receivers, including receivers that give a wireless signal, are sold separately and can connect additional devices to your router. For best results, use any powerline receiver capable of sending up to 1200Mbps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I bought these to replace some ageing TP-Link adaptors, that were dropping their network connection regulary. They also replaced a separate WiFi access point in my lounge. The performance is excellent. I went from an unreliable 90 Mbs, to around 300 Mbs. The wrireless connection is good too, I can now run a speed test over wifi, and realise my full broadband speed (this is at 5Ghz, as I do not have any 'AC' devices yet). The supplied software, Devolo Cockpit', is also worthy of a mention. It's the most professional, useful interface that I have used fro devices like this, and it even allows you to add access points from other manufacturers, so I did managed to re-use one of my old TP-Links.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fuss-free way to extend your WiFi around the house After complaints from my son that the WiFi upstairs was bad, I bought this device. It installed fairly easily - although I should have read the instructions through first before starting - as it needs to be close to the router when you setup WPS (WiFi Protected Setup) - this is the bit that extends your current network rather than creating a new network. This was as easy as pressing the WPS button on my main router and the relevant button on the Devolo unit to start the discovery / synch process. That's it - I now have a pretty fast wired and wireless connection upstairs that uses the same WiFi network (and password) as down stairs. This has been running a few months now without interference from me. The software you install on your PC will periodically check for firmware updates on the units and manage all that for you (just OK it when it finds an update and leave it to it). I would definitely recommend this product.

I have a Devolo 500 already. Will the extension socket pair to this?

Asked by: TBFTL
Yes, they should still pair together, however the internal transfer speed would be limited to that of the slowest plug.

We have this kit with a second add on adapter. Can we change the name and password so both units have the same name and password?

Asked by: JP63
Yes this should be able to be done through the devolo cockpit software.

I want to put wireless internet into my garden room. The electricity supply is off the same meter but  off a separate ring main run through a small consumer unit. Will any of your products work?

Asked by: Peter 7728
Unfortunately these products would not be suitable for this as they require to be on the same ring mains to operate.

Is this backward compatible with the dLAN 500 system?

Asked by: Ernie
This is not designed to work with a lower speed system as it would make all the plugs work on the lowest speed.

We have got 2 electric circuits ( 2 separate fuse boxes) in our property: the hub is plugged into one of them and we are trying to improve the wireless reception in the part of the house that is on the other circuit. Would this product work?

Asked by: LizW
No, unfortunately this would not be suitable for your requirements.

Will this work with older devolo models i.e. 500 series. If yes would it slow the connection down if I used the current (old) power line connected to the router? Thank you

Asked by: Mash69
It would only be as fast as the 500 series that is already at the property.
