Rated 4 out of 5 by from I've had this multimeter for over a year now and it's generally proved a reliable and useful tool. However the temperature probe never worked from new which is a bit disappointing. Also and in view of the high price, an additional separate set of of test leads with clips would have made it more useful. You won't go wrong with this (providing you don't plan on temperature measurement) and it certainly seems robust.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Neat device, good size. Voltage and resistance readings seem accurate. Like most maplin DMMs, probes are the pointy type which is not very useful in my opinion - would prefer clips of some type. Temperature probe on this item doesnt appear to work properly, reads 24'c all the time regardless of how hot it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent piece of kit. The temp. probe alone enabled me to identify problems with my central heating boiler. Other features are spot-on. A real bonus was the low p&p charge.. living here in the Scottish Highlands usually means that we are given a hefty surcharge.. not so with Maplin.. Full marks there!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I also find that after exchanging the meter (twice) that the temp. scale reads 25 degrees whilst the room temp. is about 15 degrees! Apart from that the rest of the ranges appear OK so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing. Just bought one. Wish I had read reviews first. Temp. probe, just like several others reported, read 24/25 degrees C when correct temp was 9 degrees C and 21 degrees C. Cheap but nasty quality. Returning it tomorrow as defective.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I had two of these and both of them failed to measure temperature when pressed against a solid surface such as a copper pipe or kettle. OK if you dip it into water or other liquid. Since I wanted to measure the temperature of pipes it was of no use.

The temperature leads appear to be plastic. Will they withstand 200 degree C? If not. is there an alternative temperature probe I can buy?

Where is the diode setting? it say set the RANGE switch to diode, bit not even the illustration has th correct symbol

Asked by: TimJ
It says in the Manual. DIODE MEASUREMENT 1. Red lead to "V Ω mA". Black lead to "COM". 2. RANGE switch to position. 3. Connect the red test lead to the anode of the diode to be measured and the black test lead to the cathode. 4. The forward voltage drop in mV will be displayed. If the diode is reversed, figure "1" will be shown.

screen blank, looked at manual, can find no screws to change battery. appears to be a sealed unit! can you help, please

Asked by: bryn
The rubberised sheath is easily removed, this will either reveal a battery compartment on the rear of the unit, or possibly rubber feet with screws underneath them. The unit can be opened and the battery replaced.
