Limited functionality and even more limited connectivity (Scart and HDMI). Poor manual and little on-line support. I'm not sure what the manufacturers were trying to do with this unit as it is only of limited use and has a very limited number of web portals.
Worked straight out of the box, even found an upgrade durin the initial setup. Very easy to get to grips with. Only slight niggle is getting Google and other web sites apart from iplayer to display on screen correctly and sometimes the cursor does not go to selected sections. This may be to do with TV disply rather that the Internet Box as I ahve tried all the different display setting from the Digaital Stream setup. Otherwise excellent alternative to using a computer.
I bought this device to enable me to play good quality i-player content on my PC. None of the current batch of media players I have seen seem to offer this facility. My Netgear Digital Entertainer Elite used to do this through a plugin and some additional software, but the changes to i-player over the last 12 months means this no longer works. As such this device scores 7 out of 10. The quality is good (not as good as broadcast quality by some way) and it runs smoothly (using a high speed Devolo AVLan system to link it to my router). However the interface is a bit slow, and there is no favourite facility for the i-player. It does have a search facility but this is poorly designed as it starts searching after the second letter is typed which seems to bring the system to a standstill - much better to delay the search until the user hits an OK button. It didn't seem to link to HD content either. As for the www facility I tried two sites; Amazon, which simply reset the device when I tried to load it, and BBC news, which just hung. The PC link works OK but the formats it supports are very limited, no Divx for example. When (and if!) ITV player support is added this will be reasonable value for money, but if they had added more av media format support, phono out (for music), and HDMI at 1080p and put £10 on the price it would have been a much better buy. The Maplin price seems to be the cheapest - others charge well in excess of £100, but if you want the i-player facility it may be worth the extra for a PS3 with blu ray disc and games as well.
This unit gives good results from the BBC iplayer but regarding to You tube and Flickr it has limitations. If one trys the Youtube web site direct it says that Flash should be installed and that cannot be downloaded. The same with Flickr if one trys the Slide show direct from the Website. As I am not interested in the installed selections I find it is a big disapointment. Getting into some web sites can be a bit tedious and navigating the enter block on these without having a mouse is difficult as the block sometimes goes off screen so getting it back can be a problem. I tried a USB wireless mouse on the unit but although it gave the clicks it did not navigate. Regarding the USB Mass Storage, although it played music and photo files it would not play video.
I have been looking for one of these for ages. Very easy to set up, just plugged it in and it was away. The quality of the streamed iplayer is excellent and as good as the normal tv or freeview, it is much better than watching it on my pc which is jerky.
Picked up my home network so easy access to all my music and video files on my network from the pc in nother room although I haven't got passed the pc firewall which I am sure is only a setting issue.
The web browser is not so good you can search the web using google but navigating the pages is a bit clunky . Hopefully this will be improved via a online update.
Came very quickly. Was amazingly easy to set up on a wired network. Does exactly what it "says on the box". Highly recommended.
