How easy is this drone to fly?
The DJI Phantom 2 is unbelievably easy to fly. It comes with an integrated GPS auto-pilot system to offer position holding, altitude lock and even stable hovering, allowing you to focus on taking your pictures. Additionally, this drone utilises a ‘one key go home’ function which, when switched on the remote control, will make the drone come back to its starting point.

What does the no fly zone feature do?
The no fly zone software has been developed to stop accidental flights in restricted areas, such as airports and military bases. These zones are split in to two categories: A and B. Category A includes large international airports such as Heathrow or Gatwick and has an 8km safety zone around them using the GPS database. Category B covers smaller airports and has a 1km safety zone around them. Within a set distance this feature will stop you from flying and after a set distance it will only allow you to fly at a set altitude until you leave the area. This safety feature allows you to fly within the regulations while still having fun. For more information, and to see what category your local airport is, click here.

What sort of performance will I see out of this drone?
This drone has a maximum speed of 15m/s which is the equivalent of 30mph. Add to this an ascent speed of 6m/s and you have a quick, lightweight vehicle. The two 5200mAh S3 batteries give you a maximum flight time of 25 minutes and will ensure you have enough time to have fun and get some great action shots.

What makes this different from the Phantom 2 Vision?
This drone comes with a different camera mounting bracket. This particular bracket uses a three-axis system for extra stabilisation as you are flying, this keeps the camera level even while flying so your shots are smoother than before.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not quite ready yet I bought this new quadcopter because of its extended range and the camera quality. It has only been out about 4 months now so I was .........somewhat apprehensive. Firstly the phantom is very good. Ie the copter Camera. Good quality Gimble.......now this is one of the unique selling points. Mine broke after 24 hours and if you go to you tube there are 100s of broken gimbles. This means you cant use the camera. DJIs customer service are awful and they avoid any contact unless you threaten them with legal action. The truth of the matter is the gimble is not ready yet for release. It is flimsy, unprotected and if you have never flown before...you will crash this no matter how careful you are. Lucky for me I bought mine at Maplins who have great customer service and will be replacing it. In theory its a fantastic piece of kit. It is very fragile though and not a toy. Ease of use. ThePhantom is fairly easy to fly. However, if you are new to this you will not be able just to unwrap and fly it. Go through all the flight training. Learn about the calibration process which are lengthy and if you are not PC literate will stump you. It is worth it in the end and I have truly got some stunning cinemaphotography shots for my business out of it. Durability. Ok, it comes well packed and I was impressed with the DJI box. And it should be. This little friend doesnt like British conditions. Keep it dry and away from temp change. Which tends to limit how often you can use it inmour glorious climate. Summary I am hugely disappointed with this product. I am going to replace it and try 1 more time. If it breaks again, I will get a refund. This isnt a childs toy. It is entry level professional photography or keen amateur. DJI do offer other quadcopters with reduced range and less of a camera. If they can fix the gimble issue it could be brilliant. Maplins have been very good but this is specialist equipment but you probably will not get much technical help that side due to the in depth knowledge you need for this. On the whole they are very good at what they say. Customer service first class.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Astonishingly capable I got into quadcopters at the start of 2014 and now have a 'fleet' of four. The DJI's Phantom Vision 2 Plus is fantastic. The 3 axis camera gimbal makes the footage look like its been taken from a full size craft, never mind this small model. Really excellent. The trick with landing is to avoid any lateral movement as its about to land. i.e. make the last couple of feet before landing straight down with no movement, front, back, left or right. When its landed, keep the left hand stick down to the bottom and wait for the engines to shut down. Don't be tempted to use the two stick method of shutting down. Once you've learnt how to fly and land safely, its worth setting up the NAZA control mode in software, as this will give you a number of really useful extra features, such as Course Lock Mode and Home Lock Mode. If you are afraid of the gimbal breaking, there are 3rd party accessories available to protect it. The best one is machined aluminium and available from the USA for about Ј30 including postage. I'm delighted that Maplin are selling these and they are also available straight from stock in some of their shops.

I just bought this package yesterday A43QB, I checked several times with the salesman that this is the new V3 with the upgraded motors and remote control and he assured me it is, but reading these Q and A's you say it is not a V3 but a V2? what is it?

I've noticed a lot of apparent issues around the gimbal breaking quite easily. But these reviews seem several months old so I'm wondering if there's been any progress on this or if you can reassure me in any way?

The Gimbles are really solid on these Aircraft they generally only break after a crash where they have had an impact, but if they fail under normal use we offer a 12 month warranty.
