This award-winning sports watch with built-in GPS tracking is one of the best ways to accurately check the statistics of your run.
The watch requires no initial setup. As soon as you have charged it, take it on a run and it will record your location and speed with precision.
With the cutting edge features of the Forerunner 10, you have a great reason to go running more often. The ease with which you can operate the watch is the perfect excuse to take your mind off the busy world, while keeping fit.
Whether you are a seasoned runner at a competitive level or are new to running, this sports watch is for you. If you enable the run/walk function it will allow you to take walking breaks in between your running which is great if you do not wish to commit to a long run right away. What features does it give me during a run?
Using the GPS data, this sports watch is capable of measuring how far and fast you are running. Using this data, you are able to view your progress and make adjustments during your run.
While on the move you will have access to information such as average speed and average pace for both your current lap and your overall running session so far. It also has the handy feature of detecting when you have started a new lap.
The watch offers smart feedback from its ‘virtual pacer’. This feature, if enabled, will encourage you to keep the pace you set yourself. This motivational feedback uses vibrational alerts to inform you if your current pace is behind target, ahead of target or on target. What features does this watch offer after a run?
When you are not running, this sports watch still offers a great range of features. You can use a standard USB mains charger or computer USB port to charge the device conveniently using the USB cable provided.
In terms of reviewing how you have done, the sports watch lets you access statistics, including your longest distance run and your fastest run. You also have access to view the running data for your last seven runs, enough to record a run for every day of the week.
All this information can be uploaded to the website Garmin Connect, which stores your runs permanently, freeing your watch to record over old data with seven new running sessions. The website can also display your runs on a map.
On this website, you can customise the names of your runs and access a deep analysis of your run including graphical representations to quickly glance at the stats and details of ground elevation. Is this watch suited to me?
Even though this is a one size fits all sports watch, everybody is going to be exercising with it at different intensities. This watch lets you set your own target pace and is also sensitive for if you live in an urban area without a continuous running path. If on your route you have to stop at crossings and traffic lights, the Forerunner 10 is capable of detecting this. It pauses the timer while you are stood still, saving you time with fiddling when you are stopped. This also eliminates the chances of forgetting to restart the timer.
If you want to use it in watch mode alone it lasts for five weeks and is water resistant to 50m if you want to keep it on in the shower.
If you like to share your fitness progress and get encouragement from your friends, the Garmin Connect platform lets you share your progress across all media platforms. It also facilitates the creation of training groups, providing some of the benefits of the social support of a running club but remotely. This makes the Forerunner 10 an excellent tool to use in preparation for a sponsored run with a friend whose running schedule might be different to yours.
