Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got this box with double 13A plug sockets - now the lighting (plug based) in the windows come on at dusk - The app is great and you can set all sorts of pre set moods/sequences - going to set my bathroom up with the PIR sensor next for hands free operation. The kit is great quality too and the LED indicators look really smart - The fact you can get different finishes for different walls (white/Chrome etc) is a nice touch if you want everything to match (white on white walls, chrome in kitchen) The construction feels top quality as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I have used this system for around a year, having 6 sockets and two wall switches. The biggest problem is that it doesn't _always_ work, often you tap the switch and only some of the lights will respond. This can make novice users keep tapping the switches until they inadvertently reprogram the lights. Needs to be a little more robust.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not 100% reliable The concept and price of these products is good however the RF operation is less than reliable. Despite all devices being with 3 meters of the transmitter the receivers often do not receive their signal.. so when you think you've turned off your heating you will come home to find your home very toasty. This seems consistent with all the different device types I purchased. I consider myself an advanced user as part of my business is indeed in home automation products and this clearly is a very cheap DIY product to bring it to the masses. I was disappointed to find the packaging is sealed with glue so you have to destroy it to open probably making it very difficult to return if you're not happy with its operation. If you want to switch a few lamps from bed this product is for you.. for the serious user I would add a little more to your budget and try something more advanced.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I've brought the lightwave unit, power monitor, 3 remote sockets and 4 slight switches. I mainly use the app on droid and iPhone (note you only need 1 user for up to 6 devices) Installation of the units are all pretty simple. The docs are a little hard to follow I had to call the help desk to get some clarification on a few syncing issues. I've had a ton of issues with the setup. You need to make sure you fix the lightwave unit with an IP address and then open 2 ports require for the lightwave server, not really documented anywhere. ALSO lightwaverf can tell what you are doing with your hardware (I've not found a privacy policy on what they do with this data) When youФЗЦre using the wifi at home it works fine without any problems, When using not 3g/4g or elsewhere. Now thatФЗЦs were the problems start. It doesn't always work, if at any given time you have a wifi/network problem the commands are not sent to the unit. This has happened to me a ton of times. I have replaced my ISP router and cables with the lightwave unit. It seems the problem is when you send a command remotely the lightwave servers do not send the command. I have been in contact with the support team and they canФЗЦt really do much about this problem. I have also been connected to a lightwave server that has crashed which means my personal lightwave unit goes offline, until I reboot it. I have logs of all the support tickets if anyone cares to read into the problems. My advice if your reading this, I would say don't spend your money on these units just yet. It's a great concept but I have way to many inconsistency issues. They need to fix a few issues with their apps, need to add some kind of logging, meaning if you send a command via the app, if the lightwave unit doesnФЗЦt run your action then after a timeout the app informs you. I was told just send the command a few times, which to me for something as expensive as this. Not a good marketing slogan I've spend over ?ъ400 on lightwave products and wish I just brought a random light timer for ?ъ15 Only 2 stars mainly the cost of the hardware and the amount of problems I've had. It would be just 1 star but working lights from your phone when home is pretty handy

Take a look at N81QJ, you can control individual radiators but you will still need this Base Unit to do it.

How does the LightwaveRF Link connect to appliances? Is it a 'powerline' system or does it use a radio signal? Can you use it to pre-determine the timing of on/off switching?

Asked by: Nigel
The LightwaveRF Wi-Fi Link works by linking wirelessly to your pre-existing internet router. This allows you to control your LightwaveRF devices. You cannot have a timer on the kit, you would just be able to turn the lights on/off via WiFi signal from your smart device. Please note that the sockets are sold separately.
