What features does this CCTV kit have?
Experience perfect 1080p HD resolution recordings from the wireless security cameras included in this system. There's no need to run cables, as the security cameras can wirelessly transmit 1080p HD recordings directly to the DVR. The exclusive SignalGuard technology detects low signal strength and automatically reconnects to ensure you have a reliable video feed at all times.

Wireless convenience, combined with a tough weatherproof casing, makes these security cameras the toughest to date. The IP66-rated cameras can stand up against all-weather types and carry on delivering HD resolution.

First-class IR LED night vision provides reliable security at all times, even during the night. An integrated automatic Infrared Cut Filter (ICR) means you'll get detailed footage, with accurate colour representation, in all lighting conditions. Identify objects up to 130ft (40m) away in regular night time conditions and up to 90ft (27m) away in total darkness.

Motion detection is a standard feature on this security system, and it allows you to save space on your pre-installed hard drive by recording only when motion is detected. You can choose to receive email alerts of motion events with a snapshot attachment, or push notifications sent to your smartphone or tablet.

RapidRecap is a very handy feature that compiles hours worth of activity into a short video summary. This allows you to stay connected and see more while watching less.

Exclusive remote access technology lets you watch both live and recorded video from your cameras on your smartphone, tablet or computer. The FLIR Secure app is easy to use and ready in three steps. The app is free to download on your Apple and Android devices with no recurring fees. You can also use a web browser on your PC or Mac computer to access your security cameras through the FLIR Secure web viewing portal.

How much storage will I have?
Your video footage is recorded on the pre-installed 1TB hard drive. With 1TB of storage, your footage will be safely stored for weeks or even months. You are able to customise the recording settings to fit your needs. Record at 1080p HD (1920 x 1080) for the highest video quality, or set to a lower resolution for improved recording efficiency. The flexibility of the pre-installed hard drive lets you install a higher capacity hard drive of up to 4TB to meet your recording needs.

Is this system easy to set up?
Setting up this CCTV security system is a DIY job that will require more than one person, as a ladder is needed to install the security cameras in place. To power the wireless cameras you will need to connect the camera power adapter to the camera then connect the power adapter into a power outlet. Connecting the wireless security cameras to the DVR is done by connecting your wireless receiver into your DVR via the rear USB port.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent kit I am so glad I ignored the poor reviews and went for this kit, very easy to install and everything worked perfectly out of the box, picture quality is amazing and much better than my older wired system , the camera range is also very good, furthest camera around 50m away. Setting up the mobile viewing app was again stress free, downloaded the app to my iPhone, scanned the QR code on top of the Dvr and all 4 cameras were viewable straight away! This kit was purchased when on sale at £449 but would be worth the original price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought this and it's very good, this is what I think.... Ok, I am not connected in anyway with nor under obligation to write this. I am just a normal 'punter' (with a head for heights and basic but decent 'plug n play' skills) who after a little research bought this system. It wasn't cheap at £599 but that seemed to be the going rate for what I wanted. Lorex seem big in the US and clearly Maplin like them (few problems and returns I would think..) so I bought it. The temptation with online reviews is to say how sharp the staples were that caught my finger when I opened the box but as that didn't happen and I hope anyone reading this values my view I can honestly say that this system is the absolute business. A top product. Why is it so good? Ok, from opening the box the contents are clearly and well packaged. The three instruction leaflets (camera install and setup, DVR install and setup and using the system with the mouse attached) are basic but spot on. You need decent DIY skills and some manual dexterity to fix and then run the camera power leads to a suitable power source but then that's it for the cameras. It seems a frequently asked question so I'll clarify that the camera has a fixed power lead of 1 metre and a female plug end. The power socket (three pin plug although Euro two pin plugs are also in the box) has a 1.5 metre power lead and male socket. I did buy an extension power cable but that didn't seem to fit as the connections where the 1m and 1.5m meet are quite rugged. I did what I read Maplin had suggested and bought a simple 2m three pin plug extension cable for one camera. I'd suggest that rather than interfering with the actual cables. I plugged the DVR into a small flat screen TV we had in the spare room, connected the DVR to an ethernet port (internet socket some people call them..) and turned the whole lot on as specified. Camera power on first then a few minutes later the TV and then the DVR with the attached wireless receiver. Within 30 seconds all the cameras were connected wirelessly with me doing nothing but watching. I used the mouse and logged into the system and had a look around. All seems simple enough. I then downloaded the free FLIR app on my iPhone, created a sign in and logged into my Lorex Security system (you MUST have the system connected via an ethernet port to the DVR using the enclosed network cable here) as the leaflet (one of the three enclosed in the box) showed me. Within seconds the cameras were online on my iPhone. Brilliant! The quality is superb and night vision is as good as you'd hope for. These cameras are fixed, there's no PTZ (Pan, Tilt, Zoom) so don't expect to be following people around using them. The field of view they show is impressive and I have mine mounted at first floor height and they show more than I expected. You will have to get back up the ladder and adjust the positions of the cameras once you see what they show on the monitor so don't go thinking it's a once only fix and forget! I am not sure what else to say other than if you want a 4 camera wireless setup with a DVR that will do 14 day record and auto record over in 1080 HD then this is a brilliant system IMHO. I have also purchased the 4TB hard drive as I intend to upgrade the system in due course but that will be a separate review. Hope this helps you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The worst product Maplin sell. Staff at Crayford maplin excellent I brought this product 2 weeks ago and it is very bad. DO NOT BUY THIS. Firstly the product is very light weight, the recorder box feels 90% empty, the cameras are made out of plastic so overall the quality is poor. I had the system for one day and the recorder stopped working, so I rang the help desk which was a USA number and was on to their help desk the internet providers fault for nearly an hour. They finally told me that the box was faulty and that I should change it at the store. I took it back to Maplin Crayford and they quickly changed it for me they were very good. When I connected the new box it would not connect to the Flir Secure app. I again called the USA tech helpline and was on the line to them for 3 hours, YES 3 hours. They finally told me that the flir secure app does not always work and that it is in testing mode so the rapid review function will not work and you cannot view the cameras remotely. So in all the system was useless for me. There is no UK help desk, so you will spend lots of time and money talking to someone in the USA. They also access your laptop remotely and mess about with the router settings. I was asked to call my internet provider while on the line to them as they were saying it was the internet providers fault that it was not working. They internet provider said it was nothing to do with them, so they then made me hold on the line to them again while I called my route manufacturer help line. They also said the route was fine and said it was Lorex/Flir that were at fault. Then they finally admitted that it was their system that was faulty. The cameras when on also interfer with your wireless wifi. The speed dropped to below 1mbps so was next to useless. It also affected the neighbours wifi. The recorder box interface is slow to respond and it is not user friendly. The responses to the emails to the help dest at lorex were useless and of no help at all. All they wanted to do was for me to call them again, they refused to call me back. The best this system can do is act as a dummy camera as anything else it tries to do it fails at. Also the review I wrote on the LOREX/Flir website has not been published as they do not want the bad publicity I assume. I have take the product back and brought a swann system. ALL the staff at maplin crayford were excellent and only they restored my faith in maplin. MAPLIN PLEASE STOP STOCKING THIS PRODUCT SO OTHER CUSTOMERS DO NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH WHAT I DID WITH THIS PRODUCT.

Can you boost the signal if the camera is more than 50 meters away?

Asked by: A_Sharpe
You could use a USB extension lead from the Dvr to the receiver to place the receiver nearer the cameras.

How long is the power cable

The power supply cable will be approximately 1.8m, with approximately 30cm of lead coming from the camera itself to potentially allow the power connection to pass through a wall for the most secure mounting.
