How does the PIR sensor work?
The Lynteck Focus PIR sensor uses infrared rays to detect movement of trespassers in the home and when used in conjunction with an alarm system would sound the alarm. The sensor has a detection distance of 12m and an angle of 110 degrees for a wide area of coverage. With the adjustable modes for different lens patterns available you get a versatile PIR sensor that can be used for monitoring various areas of your home.

Where should I place the PIR sensor?
The ideal height for optimal coverage by the PIR sensor is two metres high and in the corners of rooms that intruders will pass through such as living rooms or entrance halls. Depending on the location of the PIR sensor you may experience false alarm occurrence, thankfully this Lynteck focus PIR sensor has a number of features to reduce this.

There are a number of different reasons why a PIR sensor could have false alarms, one of which is electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) both of which should have a reduced effect on this device due to its high immunity to both interferences. Additionally the white light immunity and sealed detection sensor reduce the likelihood of false alarm occurrence, the reason for this is that white light would temporarily blind the detector and draughts cause havoc for the sensor.

What would I need to connect this up to a security system?
The Lynteck focus PIR sensor is wired into the control box of your security system with a suitable core alarm cable, such as a six core alarm cable (e.g. Order Code: XS54J). Due to the sensor being wired into the system in the event someone cuts the alarm cable, the alarm would still trigger adding an extra layer of security.

can you adjust it so cats will not activate the alarm but a intruder will
Asked by: Anonymous
no - it detects heat sources (infra-red) so anything that passes before it that is warmer than the surrounding area will trigger it.
