Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pile of Pooh! Bought this receiver to receive Italian channels on Hotbird for my mother. Its states its should be good for 1000's of free to air European channels but it isnt. It failed to receive a number of channels which my mother had become use to watching, such as Tele Padre Pio so I returned it and replaced it with the cheaper Icecrypt S1600CHD as recommended by the Maplin staff. This woked perfectly and now my mother is happy again.

where to obtain a list of european channels?.

Asked by: Shane
It would depend on which satellite you are aligned to as to which channel list you would receive. If you are aligned to the Astra 28.2 array then these would just contain the Sky and Freesat channel lists.

Can I seek clarification please. I live in a retirement complex where we have communal satellite connection. I am particularly interested in watching Italian and German TV. Would I have to install a separate dish to receive these?

Asked by: SANMON
Yes that would be the case.

does this give the same performance of an Astra 1or would I have to change the satallite dish.

Asked by: mike
The listing does not make it clear that  the 1000 European channels are not on the Astra 2 satellite. They are on Astra1 which requires a different dish alignment.Having provided this,it should be as good as Astra2.
