Ir beam kit
I got one of these kits and assembled it and the pads came off with very minimal effort. It Ended up in my " I will never use it "cupboard . :(
i would definitely agree with the other 1-star reviewer as the instructions where difficult to comprehend meaning i had to take about 5 resistors off one board and when i tried to solder the correct resistors onto the board, about half of the copper pads came off! Maplin is my favourite shop but to be honest,i think i have been let down on this one.
I bought this kit, I wish I hadn't! I attempted to assemble it but found the copper track came away from the board as soon as any heat was applied to it. I was unable to assemble the kit for the track falling off the board and leaving components floating and flopping around, the instructions are poor and somewhat misleading. I gave it my best and I've assembled other similar kits with no trouble before; but this kit ended up in the bin, I wouldn't recommend this kit to anyone, poor quality tracking that comes away from the board easily.
I found the kit ideal for modification into an infared camera shutter release for wild life photography. The modification was a simple, I just substituted the buzzer in the kit for a maplin relay (code n16aw) and conected a 3.5 jack (so as to plug the shutter cable on my 7d into) to the gate on the pin. now I am taking great pictures as wild life trips the beam.
Good quality kit which was a excellent price and works perfectly.
