Rated 5 out of 5 by from This WiFi range booster is incredible. The set up was easy. I plugged the unit in to the mains very near my Virgin Broadband Wi Fi router and pressed the units WPS button once then pressed the one on the router and 15 seconds later I got WiFi connection with my laptop. It had added _EXT to the SSID (network name). I took it to a location where I normally get 1 or 2 bars and constantly slow connection and it boosted to 5 bars with an Excellent report from my win 7 systray. When you get one do as I have done and you will be up and running in less time than it took to get the unit out of its packaging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a brilliant device, almost literally plug and play. It sits nice and flush against the power socket and is very unobtrusive. Contrary to some other comments here, I found the setup to be a doddle. Following the the clear and concise, step by step instructions in the manual I got the range extender to talk to my router first time via WPS. It has been successfully identified and connected to by two Android tablets, two Android phones and a Windows 8 laptop with no difficulties whatsoever and now provides excellent WiFi coverage in areas of our house that were previously less than ideal.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK (ish!) Bought one to extend the range in my daughter's old stone farm house when we come to stay. It was easy to set up and when it is in the 'mood' it works really well. Unfortunately though, it suffers with a lot of 'drop outs' which require the unit to be turned off and on again to restore the connection. Sometimes it goes into set-up mode although this can be by-passed by turning off and on again! I have tried it in different locations, but all to no avail. The connection speed and signal strength to the unit is good and the signal strength received from the main router is good. A bit disappointing really, particularly as it is prone to dropping the connection during the course of a surfing session, although I must say its never been quite bad enough to justify returning the unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works well, but instructions are rubbish. I could not set it up. After liaising with Netgear Support for several days it came to light that, if your router security is WEP, then you do not enter the router's WEP passcode in the box named "Security Encryption WEP Key". Instead you leave that box blank and enter it in the KEY 1 box. Several days wasted! Madness that instructions are so bad. This ONLY applies to WEP routers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Agreed with previous review info is rubbish. However Now had it working perfectly for 1 week Instructions. 2 Android tablets could not see netgear_ext(booster) Older laptop with B+G wifi dongle could see it but could not enter boosters web page. Loaded wifi dongle B+G+N into desktop and managed to enter booster to put password in. Then worked perfectly on both android tablets. If it had a network socket it would have saved a bit of time. Hope this helps

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Set Up Can only echo other reviewers comments that this is a dream to set up, virtual plug and play. After trying another extender and returning it out of frustration with the instructions (or lack of), purchased this one instead and what a difference, set up in no time. Good instructions, no hassle, also, do have to say that Maplin's staff are very good with returns.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well in an area of low signal strength. Set up easy, but I found that during this process the booster needed to be within about 10 feet of the laptop and the router; after that the range could be extended as required.

My virgin router is located in the office which is on the first floor.  The wifi signal isn't strong enough for my kodi box.  If a netgear wifi range booster is plugged in on the ground floor next to the kodi box will the signal be ok?

Asked by: Dave40
It could do but if the box has an Ethernet port the product in the link below would be much better http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/tp-link-1200mbps-gigabit-powerline-kit-with-passthrough-power-sockets-a75tc

To what distance will it boost a signal?

Asked by: Liam
Data throughput, signal range, and wireless coverage per sq. ft. are not guaranteed and may vary due to differences in operating environments of wireless networks, including without limitation building materials and wireless interference.
