Why do I need this range extender?
The NETGEAR WN2000RPT N300 wireless range extender makes a good choice for pushing the broadcast range of your router’s Wi-Fi signal, helping you remove any weak signal areas or Wi-Fi ‘dead zones’ around your home or office. The range extender is able to repeat a wireless signal with speeds of up to 300Mbps making it suitable for multiple connections from smartphones, tablets and other portable wireless devices.

Can I use this range extender with wired devices?
With the inclusion of an integrated four port Fast Ethernet switch, you can connect devices that lack wireless capabilities and use the range extender as a wireless bridge. Great for A/V (audio/visual) devices that have the ability to connect to a network for internet access, such as games consoles, media boxes or smart televisions.

Is this range extender easy to set up?
The NETGEAR WN2000RPT N300 wireless range extender allows for easy installation by using a CD-free setup. This means that configuration and setup is done through any web browser, making connections using portable devices such as laptops, smart phones and tablets quick and simple. A real-time LED display shows the status of the connection to your router, allowing you to optimally position the range extender. Devices that support Wi-Fi protected setup (WPS) can be paired by means of a push and connect button, further speeding up the setup process.

What is NETGEAR Wi-Fi Analytics?
Available for Android devices only, NETGEAR Wi-Fi Analytics provides you with useful tools to help monitor wireless connections to your range extender. View the status of your wireless connections and monitor your 2.4Ghz band for interference. The strength of the signal linked to your main router can be tracked and monitored to ensure that you have optimal positioning for your wireless range extender. Wi-Fi signal strength of each device can be viewed to allow you to make sure your wireless signal is where you need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I needed a Range Extender to push my wireless network into my office in the building next door. A small car park, a thick concrete floor, and several dividing walls all prevented me getting anything but the faintest signal between my router at home and my computer in the office. This Netgear product saved the day. Setup was a doddle: plug the Range Extender into your computer (you'll need to provide your own Ethernet cable to do this), browse to a web address listed in the Getting Started guide in the box, and the wizard on the web page will do the rest. Now I have a rock-solid 4 bars, 135 Mbs connection into my office. Isn't modern technology wonderful!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unfortunately I found this not to be reliable. I have it connected to my Sky Sagem router and found I kept getting IP conflicts. After setting static IP addresses for all computers including the extender itself, it still kept dropping the connection erratically. After doing the usual Google and forum searching I found that people have been reporting this problem on various set ups for over a year and yet Netgear are still yet to issue a firmware update. I will be sending this back, shame because when it had a connection, the signal strength was great over a 3 story house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just as expected. Arrived quickly and did what it said. Pretty much plug and play. Do need to follow instructions on being out of range of main Wifi when setting up but easily configured by Iphone browser. Once working provides very good strong signal. Did have netgear main wifi/access point and now fully Netgear converted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I replaced the Sitecom N300 Wireless Network Range Extender because, after a lot of time spent trying to set it up, after a discussion with Sitecom premium rate support, we came to the conclusion that the N300 wasn't compatible with the TalkTalk router. This Netgear router uses the WPS button to link automatically to the main router (the Talk Talk router that I have has a WPS button) and was set up within a minute of turning it on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does exactly what it says it does, easy to set-up as long as you follow the instructions closely. Now get a signal all over the house, had to experiment to find the optimal location but that could be due to the build of the house and not a failing of the product. Really pleased with improved wi-fi performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm always a bit wary of messing around with my router. I needn't have worried. Very happy with my purchase. I had to use the online config page for set up, but it was still very simple. It has needed resetting occasionally (simply turn off and back on again - cliche i know, but it works. You can test things are working by logging into the config website. I had slight problems with that as i was logging on with my router username and pw. The netgear default is required (as discovered via their website) - Username is 'admin' and the password is 'password' - Thats the only confusion I've had with what is an excellent product service, as usual, was excellent. Free post did mean I had to wait for almost a week (usually a day or two with Maplins) - But I'm not complaining - Free is good. Top marks from me.

Is this device suitable to be used in an office environment i.e. Connected to a server with a dedicated IP address in order to act as a wireless repeater/access point similar to a draytek vigor AP81.

Asked by: StanL
For that functionality you would need a full access point like the one below: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/tp-link-ap500-ac-1900-wireless-gigabit-access-point-a61uw

Hi, I want to set up a network in an outbuilding. So, could I run a cable from the back of the router in my house into this device and would this device then provide the wifi network in the outbuilding. I have a waterproof ethernet cable so that is okay.

Asked by: John
Yes that would work fine if you are using waterproof cable for running outdoors.
