• 140 degree viewing angle to allow a wide view of the road ahead
• 2.7 inch built-in screen to allow for playback of recordings without requiring additional equipment
• A built-in G-sensor to record sudden course changes or impacts and save any event onto the memory card in the event of a crash
• Built-in GPS to keep an accurate record of your position and route taken
• Built-in battery to allow recording to continue for several minutes after the engine cuts out
• This dash cam can record onto class 10 Micro SD cards up to 32GB in size (card not included)
• 30 frames per second recording rate at 1080p

Special Features
• Screen blackout while recording to prevent driver distraction
• Parking mode built-in to allow recording of events even when vehicle is empty through activation of optical sensor

Why should I buy this dash cam?
The NextBase 402G dash cam is an excellent choice for recording events on the road in 1080p full HD, helping to reduce insurance quotes and assisting with making a claim. With sufficient lighting, you’ll also get great quality recordings when driving at night. You can watch recordings back on the built-in 2.7 inch screen to review any events that have happened. Ensuring that significant events are protected on the memory card, the built-in G-sensor will allow the dash cam to record any impacts or sudden course changes. The parking mode will allow the optical sensor to activate the dash cam, even if the car is empty. The screen blacks out during recording so that the driver is not distracted. A date and time stamp is included on all recordings to prevent any dispute.

How do I use this dash cam?
This dash cam uses a class 10 Micro SD card, between 2GB and 32GB (not included), to record any event. A 32GB memory card will give you approximately four hours recording time. When the memory card becomes full, an auto-loop function will allow the dash cam to begin recording over existing video files in chronological order. Once the memory card is installed, the dash cam can be suction mounted directly onto the windscreen and is powered by a built-in battery or the in-car power supply. The dash cam will then automatically turn on and start recording when the engine is started.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent car camera..... BUT I use this every day in my company car. With a 32gb class 10 samsung card the quality is excellent. Even in low light it records far better than many others ive seen. But...... Theres 2 problems ive now come across but that may be due to a fault with mine. The small built in battery is dead- appears to have been killed due to poor overcharging protection. Not a major issue as its fixed permanently in the car. The biggest issue is sometimes the thing freezes/ locks up. So if it freezes and i havent noticed then its pointless being there. Changing it today so we'll see how the replacement does.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor definition and failed after my fist incident! The definition is poor, number plates can't be read until about 10 yards away. Following the first recorded incidence of dangerous driving it stopped working after 1 minute and failed to record the reg. number or the Taxi number the next time I stopped behind it at a traffic light. It did not start recording again until I started the car for the return journey, which it recorded in full. It had a new 32GB SD card which was nowhere near full. I reported it to Nextbase asking them to suggest a reason why I should not return it for a refund as not fit for purpose. No reply has been received after 2 weeks!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish Product Since buying two of these a few days ago we have had endless problems with both cameras. More often than not when power is applied (by turning on the ignition) the camera doesn't switch on - it simply displays the blue (charge) LED. On the one occasion one of the cameras decided to work it switched itself off and back on several times during 40 minute journey. It is almost impossible to get either camera to switch on manually - even when connected to a PC only the "charge" or "fully charged" LED illuminates - the cameras are otherwise dead. One being faulty is bad luck, 2/2 being faulty indicates a serious quality issue. They will both be going back to the store at the weekend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic quality Ordered one of these Nextbase 402's on the recommendation of the store assistant (very helpful he was indeed), he recommended it for footage quality, which above all was the most important feature for me. It arrived and only took a few mins to setup, I have only just started using it but I am blown away by the quality of the footage - its vibrant and detailed even at night. I have since seen that it also won Best Buy from Which magazine and I can see why. Great buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good camera Installed by a 78 year old and works perfectly. Downloaded the manual onto my pc. Then I READ IT. Hard wired it with the kit and when I start my engine the camera switches on and starts to record. Set the screen to blank after 2 minutes On turning the engine off it records for a further 2 minutes, then powers down. It can be removed and used as a photo camera using it's internal battery, though the release clip was very hard to use. sorted this by a bit of filing on the securing notch. It's much easier now. Good quality recordings. Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome image quality I just bought one today, easy to set up. Had an issue with power supply, but this was a dirty cigarette lighter problem, fixed with scraping to new metal, sorted. Once through the instructions and away I went. Mount is solid and doesn't intrude too much into view by mirror. Needed to push Micro SD card far enough into slot to catch but no real problem. Instant start up and great motion detection. All in all a neat package and highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant piece of equipment As a taxi driver I had this installed, professionally, so comes on as soon as the ignition is switch on. The quality of the video is excellent day and night. Will be buying one for the rear window next. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant in car camera I originally bought one of the cheaper in dash cameras for £40 that have been advertised in all the pushed through door booklets. The pictures seemed ok but number plate reading wasn't very easy, bought the Nextbase 402G 1080p Dash Cam and WOW what a difference, everything was crystal clear and a breeze to use. Fitted with an ignition control source to power it, or cigarette lighter socket plug, its a fit and forget gadget that monitors all what happens in front of your car, also at the rear if like me, you also fit one to the rear window as well. Having used a dash cam now for some time, I wouldn't be on the road without one ever again

I have the nextbase 420G dash cam but want to know can I attach a rear facing camera from the back of my hatchback to the front nextbase 420G ?

Asked by: James
Unfortunately I am unable to find a reference for the model you sugges "Nextbase 420G". I can tell you that unless expressly stated in the product features a dash camera is a single use unit, it records the images from it's own camera and nothing else. If you wish to record front and rear simultaneously you need an in car camera with twin cameras or twin inputs. something like http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/nextbase-duo-720p-dash-cam-a42tx

I have hard wired camera to a permanent live will it harm the camera if left on 24/7 Also how can you turn of the screen?

Asked by: Old man
As these are only designed to be journey recorders and not run 24/7, we cannot guarantee an effective operational lifespan if set to run continuously. Setting the recorder to motion detection may help prevent data corruption by reducing the number of recording incidents. The screen saver can be enabled in the settings menu which will turn the screen off after a period of inactivity. 4.7 Screen Saver Turn on the Screen Saver function, shut down the screen after a period of inactivity, press any button to re-open. Default Setting: Off
