Excellent device, very small and light. I bought mainly for orienteering tracking. Note that the USB connector is flimsy as previously mentioned - need to be careful to insert/remove correctly or it will break. Although advertised as XP/Vista only this device works fine for me on 32bit win7 but it does need the latest driver download from the manufacturers site installed rather than that provided on the CD. The device also works fine for me on Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 but note that you do have to use the open source igotu2gpx 0.3.0 dmg at https://launchpad.net/igotu2gpx rather than the supplied software.
I purchased this unit to track riding trips. The unit itself is excellent, it is small, has good battery life and has behaved without fault. Unfortunately, the software has to be the most illogical, unfriendly software that I have ever had the misfortune to use. Screen, settings are not where they should be, and the instructions are poor. It works, if my laptop is connected to the internet by wi-fi or LAN, but not by 3G dongle, which of course, is what I want to use it with most of the time. This means that I usually have to wait until getting home before plotting a trip. If the manufacturers sorted the software, it would get 5 stars.
Very neat piece of gear. Works well although it's is a bit erratic when walking in a straight line and just makes it up if you lose the GPS signal. Software is easy to use and the ability to sync the route with photos taken is impressive once you have checked that the time on camera is exactly the same as on the tracker.
Excellent device.Instruction details are not of the best
A fun, inexpensive little device that really works. It is just for personal journey records, not like the top of range commercial trackers. but a simple device to record your chosen trip. Great fun.
The device works perfectly, and the mapping software is excellent. First tiem out it showed me where I parked the car eighty miles away, and next time where I detoured around a rock fall while hiking. A bargain.
Bought recently mainly for orienteering purposes - logging my runs plus helping with pinpointing features when I'm making a map. Finds the signal usually within a minute or so while I'm warming up. Easy to use software but beware of the USB cable as I broke the small lugs on Day 1 and had to buy a replacement. The manual covers removing the cable but if you don't read it all first you'll miss the vital way of inserting the cable. Overall really pleased with it.
A handy little gadget that really works! It also has the ability to show google maps (satellite) of the whole world whilst offline. Handy if you are on the road and using a slow dongle! So far I have not found any things I would complain about with it. 10/10
I have just purchased this little gadget. So far it has performed extremely well and quite accurately. One thing that should be emphasised more is the fact that Google earth covering the whole world is there on the disk so you dont even need to be logged in to explore the world!
I have had one of these for a while its a great bit of kit I use it to generate a gpx file to geotag my photo's. Yes the supplied software does not work with Windows 7, but there is linux software which I use to get the file off the device I then use geosetter (free) to tag my photos with the gps data from the gpx file. If you travel remember to take the lead with you though and if its a long trip you will need a laptop to periodically empty the device. Great value for money IMO.
