I have these fitted to low profile tyres, have operated perfectly for the 6 months I've had them fitted. Easy to fit & set up. Much better then the aftermarket inside-the-rim alternatives as battery replacement does not involve removing the tyre!! I was worried about them letting the tyre down too as they hold the valve open, but as I said, no problems at all I'm very pleased with these. If they save me 1 tyre (as I dont notice a puncture on a low profile tyre) it's paid for itself 3 times over & its great peace of mind knowing your tyres are correctly inflated - SOOPERB!!
Principal and operation very good. But for my alloy wheels the size of the pressure transducer is just too big it will!! Get caught between the wheel and the kerb and destroyed, which also as it has too hold open the tyre valve to measure the pressure will then let the tyre down!!! If the pressure sensor could be redesigned this could be an excellent car accessory.
Great piece of kit and easy to install and set up. Shame Royal Mail lost the original order but Maplin replaced it very quickly.
I got this system on offer. One of the sensors leaked and let my tyre down. There lies the big problem with the design - the tyre valve is open all the time, so if the sensor leaks or is damaged, the tyre goes down. The sensors when fitted to my car protruded quite a bit over the rim and so could easily be damaged and without the driver knowing. Sent back for refund.
Had a flat tyre on my twin axle caravan whilst on the motorway. No indication of a flat, due to caravan being twin axle! Tyre shredded and wheel spat damaged. Bought the tyre pressure monitor and fitted it with no problems. Towed the caravan 400 miles and the unit has performed faultlessly. Well worth the money for the peace of mind.
Very easy to set up, all working fine, sensors a little bigger than expected but ok even with my low profiles, very good buy, peace of mind at last. Thanks Terry.
Bought a set 12 months ago, two on passenger side work well - no problems - the front driver side unit goes through batteries like sweeties (at #2.50 plus that's expensive) and the drivers side rear has now packed up completely.
I have bought two of these devices, one for each car in our household. Once set up they work well but setting up is not easy. (and I am reasonably competent with mechanical and technological matters) The recommended set up " automatic code learning" simply does not work. The alternative "inflate code learning" does work, but is not without its difficulties too. On the first vehicle I ended up with alternating read outs from the front and rear tyres, which I realised, when setting up the second, was due to the monitor treating the installation as for eight wheels. With a bit of fiddling about this was sorted out. Roger South
Very easy to set up and install. Aerial was loose and now feels rather vulnerable, but the device itself appears to work very well.
With low profile tires the sensors would hit the curb when parking. Returned for refund. Otherwise great idea as improved fuel consumption or one tire saved by not driving on flat would pay for itself.
