How does the Telecommunications work?

Just plug your Smanos W100 Alarm kit inline between your phone and socket and the alarm will be able to contact up to 6 phone numbers. If your alarm is activated it starts calling the 6 numbers in order until someone picks up.

What is the advantage of being connected to the WiFi?

The advantages of WiFi are many, the WiFi acts as a back up to the telecommunications system and it allows you to connect to your alarm through the App. If the alarm is activated the control panel immediately sends a push notification to your smartphone letting you know something has happened. The Smanos W100 app is compatible with both Apple and Android devices and allows you to remotely arm, disarm, monitor and program the alarm from anywhere with an internet connection.

Easy to Setup and Ready to Go
All sensors in the Smanos W100 Telecommunicating/Wi-Fi Wireless Intruder Alarm Kit are wireless and easily paired with the control unit. The wireless sensors are battery operated and are simple to install almost anywhere up to 80m from the control panel. The control panel has a loud 110dB siren built in that can be set to go off for up to 9 minutes.

Wireless Connectivity
The Smanos W100 alarm kit comes with one PIR Motion detect, one door & window contact and two remote controls but can be extended up to 30 sensors and 10 remote controls. The alarm kit is compatible with a wide range of other accessories as well. These include ceiling mounted PIRs, outdoor sirens, flood detectors, smoke alarms and gas detectors giving you an accessory for almost any event (not included).

What do the zones do?
This alarm kit has 3 different zone modes. Normal zone detectors are on if the alarm is in armed or house mode. Home zone allows you to set some detectors (usually internal PIRs) to be switched off when you are in the house whilst the outside sensors are still active. 24 hour zones are always on whether the alarm is armed or not smoke, gas and flood detectors are usually assigned to this zone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish The design is great, loots of user configurable stuff, home mode, and SOS option. But I could not get it to recognise a ring tone on my land line to make alert phone calls, nor to connect to the external siren, and the camera kept needing reboot. The push messages when the alarm was triggered are very intermittent - most of the time nothing is received by either Apple or Android phones. A few weeks ago we were burgled, the Smanos alarm was triggered, no push messages came to us and even though we were 400 yards away, we knew nothing until we got home. Save yourself some money and get a proper alarm fitted.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks good but useless as an alarm. This is a prime example of form over function. It's made to look modern and stylish and be out on display but as an alarm it has a major weakness. When triggered the alarm starts it's count down to allow time to turn it off as is normal with alarms. However all a burglar has to do is pull the low power supply plug out the back of the unit and throw the slide switch on the back to turn off the internal battery. End of system before any alarms are sent or the internal siren has a chance to go off. It's not designed to be fixed to anything so can be disabled in a couple of seconds without even causing any damage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I have purchased this system and I have to say its Excellent. All devices have a temper mode, anyone trying to disable it will trigger the alarm. I think you can add up to 30 devices. Send you notification on your phone and you have the optional to connect to a mains line to get a phone call when the alarm is triggered. Arm/Disarm/SOS/Home Mode can all be done via your phone or keyfobs Both the control panel and the alarm siren have back up batteries. So if the alarm is triggered you cannot just unplug and turn off the device (as mentioned before by another user) You will need to input the admin code. To set up the system can be a little tricky, once you get used to it you will be fine.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too easily disabled by an intruder. The review that says this alarm can be disabled by turning off a switch at the back and unplugging it is correct, the review that says that's not possible because you have to enter a pin is incorrect. I contacted the manufacturer and they confirmed this is true and if you search for internet video reviews you can find a demonstration of it. If you are using the remote controls with no delay on the alarm it may send out the alerts before it's disabled, but if you are using a delay in order to allow time to disarm it using the keypad then it could easily be disabled before it sends alerts or sounds. The manufacturer's suggestion was to hide it, but not everyone has that option near a phone socket and anyway their instruction video says it sound be in the open to get the best signal and obviously to sound its loudest.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Experiment with location of unit Found this diy alarm system very easy to install and packed with features that can be accessed through your phone. You do need to test the panel after placing a sensor to see that it can pick up the signal. Several solid walls can stop things working. I had everything set up and decided to place a sensor in my detached garage, but the distance and walls obviously stopped the signal. I repositioned the panel at another power point that also had a telephone socket and after retesting all sensors, found it picking them all up. You can use any socket, but to take full advantage of the system notifying you over the phone networks, an analogue phone line is needed. This also allows controlling the alarm by phoning it, but you obviously have to disable any answer machine attached. The only problem is making sure the control panel is situated so an intruder has immediate access to it, as it can be disabled with a small switch on the back. I would highly recommend this system, but care is needed when positioning sensors, the panel and any external sirens.

Do you have to have the alarm wired into the phone line, or is this optional?

Asked by: Marts
Telephone Line is an optional(backup), As long as you have WiFi then you should receive alerts on you phone. In case the WiFi is down then you will receive a telephone call where you will be given prompts

I have purchased this item recently, the alarm and sensors work fine, although the phone app won't communicate to instruct the unit to activate the telephone notify option. This is the prime reason for purchasing, I have followed the instructions. Why?
