Rated 5 out of 5 by from My UniT UT801 Review This is a great meter for the money and accurate too, over and above what is already stated in other reviews... 1. The test lead storage facility is held in place by two screws. Its a pain to use a screw driver every time you put the leads away and get them out, why not an access panel with a "spring loaded" retaining mechanism like on some battery compartments? 2. The temperature probe plug into the meter can be connected upside down and does not read temperature correctly 3. Nice big display with good illumination 4. Simple height adjustment 5. Mine did not come with a user manual 6. The legend on the rotary dial could be better i.e. coloured by function grouping or better layout 7. Fast acting 8. Accurate considering it does not come callibrated Overall great value and quality for me as a home, hobby, project and work shop meter

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely pleased with the UNI-T 801 Purchased 23/12/13 direct from the Maplin store in London's Camden Town. At first, after having read two other reviews, both reporting that the meter was uncalibrated & all measurements inaccurate, I was somewhat reluctant to purchase it. However, I took the plunge & have to say that I'm glad I did, as my particular unit was very accurate indeed. I have several smaller handheld meters as well as various other pieces of test equipment, all with which I was able to gauge the accuracy of the UT801 in almost every respect. I can honestly say that even if I had purchased a far more expensive test meter with similar measurement capabilities as the UT801, I do not for one second believe that it would have been any better, certainly not for the electronic hobbyist. The large backlit LCD is rather nice with its clean clear characters, the overall build quality is also quite respectable, all in all, I feel it is well worth the money. If there was one thing that I had to report as a negative about this meter, it would have to be its size. Now, don't misunderstand me, I like the size, its a really nice looking meter, just don't look inside it. One may ask why, well, I would say the casing inside is 70% or more empty. In other words, there is far too much unused space, and I fail to understand the need for this meter to have been made so big. Anyway, that's not really a problem at all. Overall, I'm very pleased and quite happy to recommend this meter. Just in case you are one of those people who questions almost everything, including whether or not this review was written by a genuine buyer of the UT801, all I can say is yes it was, so rest assured. This review is from a genuine buyer who's recommendation is sincere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I purchased this item on the internet, unfortunately it had a faulty display. Maplin offered me a replacement immediately which I now have. The meter is excellent and works very well on both batteries and mains with the supplied adaptor. It seems to be well built and is easy to use. The display is large and easy to read and is backlit. An excellent meter, I would recommend it.
