Product details

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I use these switch boxes at my workplace to switch between the laptop and a PC inputs for our projectors. It works fantastically, I haven't noticed any degradation of quality at 1024x768 (which is the resolution of our projectors) and it is a nice simple solution for users as the switch box is labelled 'PC' on input A and 'Laptop' on input B. On one unit the plastic switch knob bit was damaged (broken off completely) by a user, we replaced the knob with an old metal knob from a dimmer unit and the switcher still works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple inexpensive switchbox Takes me back to when IT looked like IT, not sexy at all! This switch box functioned for me perfectly on first use - I have a PC which is giving output to it's normal flat panel via VGA, and I wanted to be able to switch the output to a wall mounted TV screen for when we use it for presentations. The switch works instantly to go between different Outputs, has a satisfying soft-clunk action which is easy to do, but feels like it will stay put, and can flick back and forth very quickly. Before buying it, carefully consider which male:female cables you will need by looking at your input and output sources, as you might need one adapter at some point...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Item Although not featured in their literature, apart from a 2-way VGA switch facility, this unit also provides 5-pin DIN audio switching. So as well as switching your video it also switches the audio.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't recommend it Doesn't seem to work above resolutions of 1600x900. I unplugged the cable which went from my PC to the back of my monitor, plugged it into the switching unit, and ran a cable from the switching unit to my monitor. I then left it all connected overnight, woke my PC in the morning and my PC was no longer recognising my monitor - it would send a signal to the monitor, but rather than saying "BENQ G2410HD" like it normally does, it now just said "Analogue monitor". It had reset the resolution to 1024x768 which it said was native, and would only allow me to go up to 1600x900 when the actual max resolution is 1920x1080 (Full HD). In summary I believe this is not a true "pass through" switch as the monitor information does not seem to be passed to the PC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I bought this unit as a stop gap while my faulty D-Link DKVM-2KU was being replaced. I noticed that another reviewer had got the audio switching as well and it works a treat. For such a robust but cheap unit switching both PC's and Audio its a bargain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VGA two way switch box. My previous switch box was electronic, and failed in use, with the signal lost. The manual switch box is much simpler, and has improved the monitor function, and I would recommend it to anyone who needs to switch a pair of computers to one monitor.

I have one monitor, with one VGA input from my desktop PC, however I also want to use the same monitor to display my CCTV (Swann DVR4 4-600). Can I plug both the my PC and the CCTV into the back of this box and then just use the switch to view either one?

Little unclear from the description and reviews. Does this box switch between two VGA sources (e.g. two PCs) and goes to one  output (e.g one monitor). Or instead switches one PC between two different monitors. From what reviews I've seen possibly bo

Asked by: Jbs1

I need to switch a PC between 2 screens with only 1 screen live, not both. I'm told this has 1 male VGA port switching 2 female, is that right? I will connect two monitors with male lead to female port, but will the PC need a female lead to male port?

Asked by: Two screens
Yes, you are correct that 1 VGA port is male and the other 2 are female.

I need to switch the monitor between Linux server and Win7 development system. Some of your answers suggest the product does keyboard and mouse as well. I tried a KVM switch and found problems with the mouse on the Linux box, so initially I'd prefer to just switch monitor with a manual switch. If there is an option to switch keyboard and/or mouse as well, then that is a nice option to try later. But the VGA switch on its own would be enough. Can you confirm exactly what the options are?
