What does this device do?
The WeMo Switch plugs into your standard UK mains socket and is controllable from your smartphone or tablet through the free downloadable WeMo app. You can put your devices on a timed schedule, allowing you to turn lamps on and off at a set time if you are away on holiday. Simply download the free WeMo app, plug the switch into an outlet in your home, and plug any device into the switch

How does it connect?
The plug wirelessly connects to your router with ease. Simply plug the WeMo into the wall, download the app from your respective market and connect through the Wi-Fi options to your plug. Once you open the app, it will ask you to connect to your home wireless network, and when you have done this it will automatically pair up the switch and the router for you to be able to use anywhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from WeMo Switch - Apple and Android Compatible Brought one of these today having read some of the reviews. Some good some very bad. Plug it in and went through the setup which is all in the app. (Apple) There are some quick setup instruction in the box as well. Having downloaded the app and switched on the switch the set up was quite good, however i did have to reset it once as my network signal was a little weak at the time. Having set it all up it works fine, i did fine however that there is a little time delay when you have setup switch on / switch off i found can be upto 2 minutes. No problems apart from that very happy with it at the present time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from UNRELIABLE I wanted a simple device which would allow me remotely to switch on my home central heating 12 hours before returning from a holiday. The WeMo Switch seemed to offer the perfect solution in combination with the WeMo app on my phone. The price was good, the delivery was good, setting up was simple and the operation was simple. For a couple of hours I happily switched on and off with no problems. Then, for no apparent reason, the WeMo app could not find the Wemo Switch on my network. The Switch seemed to have gone to sleep and disconnected from my network. Following advice I did a factory default reset on the Switch and set it up anew. I also uninstalled and re-installed the WeMo app. Once more the system started operating as advertised.....until it went to sleep again about one hour later. I repeated the reset procedure and the same thing happened again. (For these tests the Switch was located about 1 metre from my router and in line of sight) At this stage I lost all faith in the product and did not want it as part of my heating system. I returned it for a full refund.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A setup instructions would havw helped When I opened the box there was no instructions which did not help when it came to downloading the apple. I tried the ipad first and when I did a search on Wemo all that came up was apps all at a price of £1.49. There was no clue to the right one so I chose one which did not work. Belatedly I read the reviews which said no app for the ipad. I then download the free app for the iphone and after a couple of updates everything is now working. It is a pity about no app for the ipad.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I had problems installing, I could get it running, but close the app and it was lost in cyberspace, never to make contact, exchanged, and second one the same. No app for iPad. Wasted probably 8 hours re-setting and installing for the same result. Returned it and exchanged for an Edimax, setup took 5 minutes and is working a treat now for 24 hours. Do not think the Wemo liked iPhone4S and TP-Link router.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Is it on or off? Bought two of these and the wemo light bulbs, very awkward to set up in fact after 3 hours of them deciding to connect I thought great. Problem is that the system is unreliable, I would switch them on via the app and sometimes they would work and most often they would not. Fare enough to Maplin they took them back without hesitation. (maybe they know they don't work) Happily changed to another system.

No they are linked to your wifi so you can only control them if the device is on that wifi!

Belkin says you can use more then one device but how??? My iPhone 6 (one I used to set it up) works fine but now it's set up it's not emitting WiFi so my partners S4 mini can't find it??
