Unfortunately working about 3 months! I bought 2 and they are broken - both after about 3 months! What a pity! They were giving very good sound
I have bought and used three of these audio senders from Maplin. One I use often in Church connected to the sound system. It is excellent when it is working. I have to keep one in reserve is either the receiver or sender will stop working for no apparent reason. I have a wedding shortly with no organist. I live in hope with a spare in the drawer!
I bought this several months ago and it pretty much does what its meant to do. It did stop working last week and i thought it had just packed in. I read a review on here and found that i had to re-pair the base unit to the dongle and hey presto we're all good again. I do have an issue with it intermittently losing the signal causing the sound to break up which is very frustrating. The pc is about 15 feet away and there is nothing in between that should block the signal so any suggestions on this would be appreciated. Can't fault the sound quality when its working properly. My 4 star rating is only due to the signal breaking up which to be fair may be interference from elsewhere.
Only just bought this item and it is potentially very good. Very easy to set up in Windows Vista and enables a very good audio input to my reasonably good Hi Fi. Great to play iTunes direct with no problems what soever from my lap top. However, the transmitter blankets out my WiFi such that it cannot stream Spotify, BBC or anything else from 'ternet unless you put the transmitter on the end of a USB cable and move it away from the computer. Then it works fine, but no longer exactly wireless but not precisely hard wired to the back of the amp. The sound is good though, much richer, clear and precise than Bluetooth.
Ok, how to make it work - Win7. You need to read this, it says nothing in the leaflet that comes with it. Connect everything up then plug the dongle in. A message will appear saying that new hardware has been installed. This will give you an unwarranted feeling of rightness. The laptop soundsystem has now been hijacked and you literally won't hear a beep out of it. The dongle and the receiver will be flashing as per the leaflet but you will have no sound from the stereo. Do NOT go to the control panel and disable the USB system, or it will vanish and need recovery from the troubleshooting gadget provided with Windows, which admittedly works perfectly. Simply go to the receiver and hold the power button down for some seconds until it flashes quickly. Then go back to the dongle and press its 'pair' button. All things being equal, it will now work. Mine did, eventually. The sound quality is fairly poor however, it has a sort of 'secondhand' quality that's hard to put your finger on. Still a million % better than laptop speakers, but nothing like as good as a decent pair of wireless headphones. Shame really, this device has an awful lot going for it otherwise.
up to 50m range? 50mm more accurate. my lounge is 14 ft long. it doesnt work half that distance. links everytime, plays 5 seconds, the drops signal. tried on both Mac (USB1.1) and pc (USB 2.0) both same result. ii did a cm by cm test test..... and the result was around 60cm.
I use this to relay my mp3 collection in my laptop to my hifi. It works really well and is easy to set up and operate. It's range is limited but absolutely fine for me. The only thing that means four not five stars is the rather flimsy feel to the construction of the sending device that plugs into the usb port - otherwise, brilliant!
The first one I had worked okay but only for one day. Tried numerous times to get it going but no good. Gave it to my son to try who also couldn't get it going. Took it back to local store for an exchange.New one worked first time and sound quality was excellent, like the first one. Two days later it just stopped working. Tried everything possible to get it going but no good. Very frustrating. I'm taking it back today for a refund.
I bought one of these just over a year ago at my local Maplin store and it has had almost daily use since then. I have had no problems with signal in my house and sound quality (through a proper hi-fi system) is excellent. Some reviewers have had problems with these units not working - that problem is solved easily be re-pairing the sender and receiver (just like bluetooth). Unfortunately the supplied instructions don't explain how to do this so for the benefit of others this is the way: Put some music on play. Press and hold the on/off button on the receiver unit until it starts flashing quickly twice in succession, then press the button on the sender dongle attached to your computer. It doesn't always pick up the signal first time, but do persevere - it will work. I thought my unit had stopped working too until I figured this out.
The Sound quality far exceded my expectations Delivery was as always earlier than anticipated. In this case ordered in the afternoon, delivered before next day (mid-day). Hope you can keep this policy working.
