Cable Finder
Get the right cable first time and avoid damaging your equipment.
Cables and connectors are that ever important link between your equipment and Maplin understands that getting the right connection can be a difficult task. To assist our customers we have produced this simple cable finder
Simply select the connection you wish to go from plus its gender (i.e. male “plug” or female “socket”) and then select the connection you wish to go to and the finder will do the work for you. Don't forget you are choosing the gender of the cable and not the device (so if you are connecting to a scart socket for example you would choose a scart male connection).
If a cable is available you will be provided with the option to choose what length you prefer in metres or if an adapter or wireless product is available then this will be provided as an option.
If you attempt to choose a connection which is not possible or available then the finder will not display this as an option (for example from “HDMI” to “composite” will not be shown as this is not available).
If you would like more information or assistance then you can contact our technical support team who will be happy to help (please see our help section for further details).
- Select the first cable
- Select the connector type
- Select the second cable

- Select the length of cable (length displayed in meters)
- Please note: If an option is grey it means this is the only option available to you.
Note for Variable Voltage Power Supplies:
Before selecting the desired voltage, ensure the switch for Voltage Selection is set to the far left or set to the lowest voltage setting initially. Then, step by step, move the switch along to the correct voltage required – counting each notch and making sure the correct Voltage is selected.
Power Requirements:
Check the power requirements for the device before use! The same voltage, but the amperage (current rating) can be same or higher on the power supply.
Polarity:
For products that require a DC input voltage, ensure you have the power supply set to the correct polarity before use. Connecting a power supply to your device with the incorrect polarity may cause permanent damage to your equipment. Before use, please check that this matches the polarity required by your device, and if in any doubt, seek professional guidance.
